Very true. ^_^ I fear a lot of the stuff I say is ripped off from something else and slightly or heavily altered for my situation and/or joke.

The list of pending plagerism law suits against me is as long as toilet roll.

... also I think I've been awake way too long.

Ok, I'll try to record my voice too. I'm from Brazil so I think that would be a different accent from other voices, but it may be cool in a different race, if you have any sugestions beyond that posted here please e-mail me: leandrovillela@terra.com.br

I'll record them tomorrow, because this hour of the day it's very "noisefull" here.

It should work in the Federation as well. Think of all the Federation's diversity. Think of Scotty with his accent.

Cool, thanks for that Leandro, I look forward to hearing them. Once you've made them, send the files to Kenneth_of_Borg as he's in charge of the ingame voices. Don't worry about applying sound effects or anything to the voices, as Kenneth knows what sorts of things we want. Just record your voice and leave it at that.

Once Kenneth is finished with the files, he'll upload them to the voices section of our Sharepoint Site. Sharepoint is where we keep all game-related files so that anyone working on the game can freely access the files for their own use, and the site is owned by Mike, the Supremacy developer, so we don't need to worry about it randomly getting closed down or anything. :)

I noticed the "Affirmative_ty" file is missing since the sharepoint crash. I guess for combat such a computer voice could be useful too not to mention for other transactions or in-game actions with the menu. Do you still have the file kenneth or another one like this?

Yes and thanks for noticing. I will grab it off backup when I get home.

might be good to have an alternative "affirmative" voice, perhaps one that is sounding computer-voice-like a bit like in Star Trek. As far as I remember the _ty version sounded more like a female recruit or officer which is perfect for combat but not as good for the game menu. In BotE Alpha5 we will replace the old star trek roddenberry affirmative sound with a new one. Maybe the _ty one can be altered with audio software to fit a general game menu use..

Do you have any voice programs we could use in that case?

I have not made the game menu voices a priority. The last time I talked to Mike about them he had already coded all the voices he was going to use. That was more than a year ago. Things could have changed.

Wolfe did have some voices worked into the first combat engine. That is where the combat voice clips came from. We can always use more of them to chose from on SharePoint when the time comes.

Whilst they're not specific voice programs, I would recommend using the Audacity and NCH's Wavepad programs. They're both free (Wavepad only via trial...and other means :mischief:), have lots of options, and can both record from microphones or edit existing sound files. I've probably mentioned them on here before, but my recommendation stands. :)

I put "Affirmative" by Ty back on SharePoint. It is in normal voice and one doctored to sound more computer like. I hope that is what you needed.

yes, they are. the subtle changes were effective, it does sound less human now since the breathing-out at the end of the word is reduced.

That should be it for now on the Klingon combat clips. You could try your hand at one of the other Major races. That would be Dominion, Romulan, Cardassian and Federation.

So, i was just surfing one day through various Sci fi forums and such and came upon BotE. I've been playing it for a few weeks and i'm very impressed and would love to contribute to the project by lending my voice. I downloaded audacity and i'm gonna just start recording with the info posted here. I'd love any more direction you may have to offer.
Thanks,
-Duncan

Welcome James_T_Shatner and it is good to have the offer of help. Did you notice that we have more than one game on the forum? BtoE and BOTF2 (Supremacy) are different games. Any help is welcome. We can listen to what you have and upload it to SharePoint from there.

How are we doing as far as in game voice clips? do we need anymore and if so which ones, I know I had done a few of each for federation, and klingon, not sure if I did the other races or not it's been a while.

I am just getting underway with a combat engine. Work is not to the voice clip stage but we may need some new work once it is. It is good to see you are still around.

Hi Blaze!
Glad you're back!

I would have liked to help also, alas my skills are still at the sphere level. At best I can modify a cube. I made a chair using some examples but my measures are ugly.

Using GIMP you could make agent photos what can go strait into Supremacy.

Your work in blender looks good. Hair is a big deal in any program.

If you have Photoshop that is good. GIMP is just the free alternative if you did not have Photoshop.

We need agents for the major races. As you can see in the thread we have used photos from TV shows like the Dominion agents. In the game you will see the Federation agents like Captain Archer and T'Pol that Mike has made. Goggle some Klingons, Romulans and Cards and you are good to go.
