So I've got an unfinished track I would like some feedback on, before I take it any further...mainly whether or not its too ambient or not generally the musical direction the team wants to go in. I doesn't have any percussion at the moment it's just a rough track that will probably just end up being inspiration. As far as the sharepoint site is concerned, I have XP but I'm running Opera instead of IE. Think that would work on the site?

You should not have any problem with SharePoint. Mike hands out the access to upload though and he is busy at this time. If you upload to a file sharing site like say http://www.mediafire.com/ I could put it on SharePoint for you. We would love to hear even a rough cut.

General Game now has a remastered BOTF2 Main Theme and an "Ambient" theme (though the vol is a bit turned up on it, u need to modify)

Federation folder has a remastered "Serenity" theme used in the German version, a new Federation "Intro" theme, and all four battle themes remastered including the Ambush one.

I'm listening to your new tracks as I type this, Maya. I'm impressed with what i've heard so far. The ambient one sounds to me like a tense moment - perhaps it could be the opening moments of combat against a cloaked enemy, or the opening of relations with a previously hostile race - from a Federation perspective, at least. I'd imagine it would have more drums or horns if it were the Klingons for example.

The remixed theme is a nice update of the original track. The horn instrument at about 2:34 is perhaps slightly off-key compared to the rest of the horn instruments, but otherwise it definitely sounds "themey", if you know what I mean, so it definitely hits the right spot.

I haven't seen Mike online in awhile.. this is leaving me wondering what's going on exactly with my placement in this project?

He monitors but never posts a lot. We will see him back in a bit. Things are busy at work.

Glad to see you're back, Andrew. Your position on the project is unchanged as far as I know, but it's your choice ultimately.

Your best bet of speaking to Mike is to speak to him direct on MSN. He's usually online, although that's often because he uses MSN in work, not just for leisure. Just because he's online doens't mean he can speak to you. If I want to talk to him I usually wait until about 2am GMT. I'm not sure what time zone you're in, but Mike is -8 hours compared to me, which is why the late nights.

I have uploaded a few tracks in the userspace. There is a general battle track I created, you can listen to it in the General files section. I also uploaded three Federation tracks that were composed by a student of mine.

That is great work. Very much the pro.

Two new tracks added to the General Game Music folder. Ambient 2 that is more introspective sounding with some Fed overtones, and a BOTF2 "Trailer" music track that was originally a track for another project that has been redone. It might suit a trailer video.

New stuff posted in the Federation music folder. Sorry for the long away time.. but I'm a busy guy. I got most of my new equipment working; I think you'll like the new game style format I've adjusted to for my new tracks.

Would you mind if I use some of your music in a game trailer? It is not time yet to make the trailer, there needs to be some work on the combat engine, but I do plan to make one. I am collecting clips of video and audio that will be used in the project.

Also some of the music in the Federation folder sounds like it could be used with some of the other major races. Would you mind if something like buildtrack_6 or Battletrack_7 were used for the Cardassians or Romulan or as general game music across races?

Yes, the music is just what we need to flesh out the game. I love the new tracks and have been listening to them while I work at my PC in the office. Thanks AndrewJT

So, how are you guys doing with music? I just got done scoring project "hell". Taking some time off for my sanity. I re-read through my last post and I remember writing it in a hurry. I hope you guys didn't think I was burning the bridge again. I am still here if you need me. I just had to work on some stuff, and now it's finished and was released (yesterday actually). Anyway, getting to the point... I guess I assumed there was enough music or you guys were done.. IDK. I'm back if you need anything else.

It is so good to hear form you again AJ.

Things are going well. Mike is coding diplomacy and espionage features so we can have a playable version. There will not be an AI yet but a multiplayer version that we are going to demo at the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention in August. We will have a demo of the game running at a booth in the vender area. Also Mike is going to lead a panel talk on fan game development. You are welcome to come and take part. (Talk about the music, play the game at the booth or just enjoy the fun.)

I am not the best one to ask about music needs but I would say we could use music to play during combat and a general background for the Romulans, Dominion and Cardassian player. Mike and Matress may have more to say about that.

I'd be happy to join in on that. I actually spent two years living in Vegas working on a film. It would be nice to be back there again, especially to back this game. I will construct some more tracks.

I'm not really the best guy to ask either. The new music that Mike included in the game during the May update (To replace the original exploration music from X3: Reunion) surprised me and he hasn't talked with me about music even since then. I think you're gonna have to go straight to the source and ask him.

I never actually noticed how active this thread was until I popped in. I see there was bickering in the music commmunity... very unprofessional *taunts AndrewJT, since he shares the same name as the Captain does, and because he notices that AndrewJT harped a lot about professionalism (also hoping he spelled the word professionalism right)*. Anyways, it is an excellent thing to have a professional musician onboard. After reading the top of this page, I almost thought there was a war gong on! (I used to be known well for being able to resolve personal wars, it's a talent). It sounds like you are doing amazing work AndrewJT, all I can say is keep up the good work. Now, back to work, as per usual... writing random events.... and writing... and writing...
