Thanks to you for guiding me there. I'm glad that you liked it.
I think I have time to start another one (or more) before I practice the show.
Do you intend to rename this song or keep it as it is? Because you can choose a real Klingon name for it, or simply name it "Klingon nerve test"! It's up to you now!

Now let's see, I'll take this out... and insert that in ...uh..not too much of this........and then....

As the creator you get the naming rights.

Klingons appreciate strong women.

I'm sorry but I can't get to this site. It says that the server is not available.

Then if I have to choose the title, I'll name it: "The day to die". How about that?

Also, I've made another demo for the Klingon. Balanced but not finished yet, but if you wish to keep this part, you can add the word "(short)" at the end. I'll do a longer version. How long would you need it to be?
My feeling is so that you'd want to keep this one. I could be wrong though!

I did a little remixing on the song "Klingon The day to die" (Klingon Test 220). Please listen to both and tell me which one is best for you.

I'm taking a little break now. My head is spinning. I'll be back with more in two days.

I changed the name on the file. Do you have them in a .wav file format? It would be better sound quality. We can always compress to mp3 later if we need to. They sound very Star Trek and remind me of the original game.

The remix sounds even better to me. I loaded both. You should ask Mike about any issues with length. He is the one that will mix the music into the code.

Yes they are both simply great. A lot like the original BOTF and very klingony.

The one called Klingon Cloak is my favorite. If you can make it a bit longer (I think that we will need longer themes for galactic background) and with looping transition (so that we can't notice the transition of the end and the beginning) that would be our Klingon theme.

EDIT: After testing it ingame, I'm sure that it's what we need. Excllent work.

Funny that you mentioned that Kenneth of Borg, because I compressed them as soon as it got out of the studio, thinking they would be too big to send in wav.
Sure! No problem. My next message will contain all the songs I made yet. Thank you for changing the name.

Thank you vjeko1701!. This was only a preview, it's not yet completed. But you can always use it for short transitions. I was planning to make it about 2 minutes but if you want it longer, since I haven't completed it, just tell me the length and I'll adjust it, and I will also make the loop point to your convenience.
Would you like it to start the way it does, or with a smooth entry? Because if you like it the way it is, I can arrange the ending to rise up to catch the Drum point at the start, or I can start the song with a very soft string part, slowly rising to hang with the drum point, and end with the same string pattern (which I call the dying point). I guess there will be an initial start to this song  , before it loops.
Please, don't rely on the actual ending, as I said earlier, it was meant to be as an example. Everything can be changed in it, before, during and after.
Just tell me what you would like and you got it.

http://www.mediafire.com/?ikmfr1ajdadob92 (Klingon The day to die "original")

http://www.mediafire.com/?dnzwvvmmvbbimuu (Klingon Cloak, short)

I included the Klingon Cloak, even if it's a sketch, in case you wish to use it anyway.

I hope it's OK! for you. And about Mike, is it mstrobel?

Yes and sorry I just assumed. Mike Strobel, user mstrobel, is our coder. He may not have any issues but we best make sure before deciding things ourselves.

I deferrer to the musician creator on how to loop. Do what sounds best to your trained ear. I am uploading the new files.

I did notice that the first two links seam to point to the same file.
Should there be four different wav?
:borg:

We have a lot of Klingon and Federation music now. The other major races are a little on the light side.

Mediafire seemed to have a problem. It crashed my browser as soon as I tried to access my files. I managed to re-upload it and here it is. Sorry for this.

http://www.mediafire.com/?dl2f88bxqrqmdvm The way to die "remixed"

The second link is a faulty one. Forget it.

OK! Klingon Cloak wasn't long enough, it wasn't completed yet. I'm adding a few more measures. I already added a smooth ascending intro; I'm now almost finished, as I didn't want it to repeat too much, I created another part near the ending, and I am smoothing the strings down to the same volume as the start. Hope you'll like it.

 I couldn't do what I intended at first because the way the song starts and ends is different and adding a ascending string part was ugly (I added some strings at the start though), but I managed to make it loop-able in time with the tempo. There is a 1/4th of measure silence, but not really a silence, since the effect is still sounding.
Tell me what you think.

Kenneth, I removed the faulty link from my earlier post since it is now in a new one.

Great, it's simply great.

EDIT: All the music on Sharepoint is it free to use, or is some of it just for reference?

Unless it says "example" or the like music on SharePoint is suppose to be free to use. I did not download or create all the music there so if you find something that is questionable let us know. Personally I checked on the music that I downloaded from US military band sites. Anything you can download from them is free to use.

I am uploading the new wav files. :bigthumb:

I want to say how much I appreciate the music you are creating for the game. This adds enormous value to the project. I can not wait to hear what you do for the Cardassians, Romulans and Dominion. You show up one day and in a week add more value than I did in my first two years.

Thank you very much for those kind words.
You see, I'm an oldie (56), I've got some free time because I don't work so much anymore, and a fan of Star Trek since it started and I'm very proud of being part of your project. You (and your collective!) give your heart and soul, answering questions, guiding them to what they're seeking, encouraging everybody, and even keep an open place and eye for chat and jokes, I can see all that.
Because you believe in what you do, you bring people to believe also that it's almost their project. And you do all that for free, and furthermore, for another one's enterprise! How could I lift my nose on that?

I'll do my best to be up to the task all along, as long as I can, creating songs for this project and, if time gives, for others as well.
You assimilated me! My fingers are yours! And my ideas! And my imagination... But not my soul! Bwahaha! :shifty:

As I supposed, and from what I've heard earlier, I think I will also be thinking Medieval for Cardassians and Romulans, but with a different touch, still heavy (because based on war and conquest), proud (with vanity) but with slightly different sounds and speeds. As for the Dominion, from what I've heard, it will be completely abstract, with a shift in time and feel, since they're 'shifters'. They also are a proud race and make perfect spies, so I read. Am I right, or correct me if I'm out of it!?
I'm trying to make something new here, something that doesn't exist in other games, not copied, with the Supremacy pride, so that it sounds unique (You might be having to hide these songs one day :shifty: ). I will need a bit of all your appreciations (as you already do) in telling me if it sounds "racey" to you.

As usual, I will do it partly , so that you can get a preview of what's coming and give me some feedback about which race will fit the most with the song.

Here's another demo. I named it: Race Song 01 because we don't know yet for which race it is meant.
Tell me what you think about it. As soon as we find, I'll rename it. Is it Cardassian? :cardassian: Or Romulan? :romulan:

BTW, could you correct my name in Share-point/ Klingon themes, because some letters look bizarre.
It's: Gino Véziau, the underlined letter is the right one here. It's kind of freaking when I read that funny name.
Thank you!

I suddenly had a flash! I was sitting here doing nothing, well, thinking of the Dominion a bit, and Pow! Suddenly, I had this music in my mind, and I couldn't get it out. Could this be the Dominion, full of vanity, and pride and serenity? A different, but not so far from the sins and virtues of the humans we are? This song is completely something else from the marches I made. It's more like a Waltz March,.. Alien, but still human.

http://www.mediafire.com/?fj9hnq1oxouy3ji For now it's named: Race Song 02

Listen closely to this one I just made and tell me what you really think. It's short again but it can always be arranged.

Sorry I got the name wrong. I had copied what came along with one of the music downloads thinking that was how you wanted it. I did not realize that my system was translating the accented letters incorrectly.

The music: I like both tracks and The waltz works for me. A little more base and it would sound something gothic in a good way. I would give the Dominion Song 2. I guess the Cardassians are semi reptilian and a desert Arabian Middle Eastern sound might work. It would be other world enough for most of use. The Romulans are futuristic Romans so music from one of the big production films of the 50s or 60s with a Roman backdrop might be inspiration. I would put Song 1 on the Romulans. - will change the name on files later today.

I'm very happy to know that I'm on the right way for those two songs.
Thank you again for guiding me so well on the music styles vs the races. Now I really understand what music each race needs. As they aren't finished yet, I can work them just what it needs and add the perfect touch.

OK, so be it. I will rename also my songs the way you've named them. I'll go check in the Sharepoint section as you update it.

Be back soon!

EDIT: On the Dominion song, I had lowered the base thinking there was too much, Guess I had it wrong there! Funny!

I found a name for the Dominion song : Dominion Nostrum . It just Bumped in my face.

Back in a few minutes with that. I'll edit this message instead of creating another.

EDIT: Here it is. Hope you like it. If there's anything wrong, please tell me. At the end of the song, they're changing to something else, but you might find it funny. And then not. It's loop-able with less than half a second silence, to let the effect fade a bit. And it's arrangeable.

http://www.mediafire.com/?2sod9a2odgi3moa Dominion Nostrum - Gino Véziau

PS.: I made an error in the title of the Wav file I sent you. I mispelled it Dominium instead of Dominion

Me again!
In case you prefer without the sound at the end, I remixed the Dominion Nostrum song. More punch and no harp at the end. And I gave an even stronger punch at the very last stroke.
If you wish, tell me which one you prefer.

http://www.mediafire.com/?3q48qitgbr56z7h Dominion Nostrum Remix - Gino Véziau

I'll be continuing with the Romulans song tomorrow, because I'm a little tired right now.

See ya!

I was peeking at the Share Point earlier and I saw something odd. The TerakRall had my name on it but I'm not the creator of this song. Would you check that out please?
Thank you.

I see in another current thread that we are going to treat the Dominion as one race. This will be an amalgam of the Vorta and Jem'Hadar. In the music I hear the Vorta clearly. I am no musician but was wondering if you could add a second voice in the music. Would it be possible to have a base sound or brass wind or beat for the Jem'Hadar? Just a thought. Shoot me if I am making a stupid suggestion and do not know how to say it.

Thank you! for fixing everything.
I can really understand that. Remember in my last post, I was saying that I needed a little break...? Besides our role in our user names, we're still humans. I gave full speed in providing songs the fastest I could. Luckily, my 40 years of experience and the flashes I had helped me a lot in effectively creating music but I also have a limit, and I also have a life to fulfill (although 90% of my life is making music). (Sometimes I need to prove to my wife that I'm still her husband)
But this project has become my most important mission: create music for as long as there's songs needed in the game. And I won't let you down as long as health is in me and you (the team) to support me.
(Sounds like a vow heh?...naaah!...Well...maybe!)

About the Dominion, It came out of my mind that it was an amalgam (I read it somewhere) and that they could share their theme but sounds good to me. I will try some combinations to see what is possible to add between the sounds you propose. Or maybe I could just make the song longer and add a second melody with those sounds (voices and wind brass). Or make them respond to each other in the song with two tracks of voices, one low and one high, panned left and right of the spectrum.

As it is now, the song is really charged with a lot of tracks BUT...I could still add some more in the studio if I can toss them left or right.... I'll be back to you soon!

PS.: Hey! You just said that you aren't a musician, but I see you can "feel" it a lot and that helps me abide in the right direction. Keep on feeling my friend, I think we're getting along fine (musically speaking). Keep on feeling!

Me again.
Kenneth (of Borg), would it be possible to put a link for Share Point in my signature,or elsewhere near because I often "sail" between this thread and Share Point to hear how every sounds back on the site and I have to go back to the first post to click the link. This helps me compare between what I hear in my studio and what really sounds on the site so that I can adjust-rearrange the settings to make it perfect.

Or maybe there is a setting that I can do to have it at hand all the time. Thank you!

I understand your enthusiasm for the game. Besides my love of Trek I have used this as a means to gain more cg art skills. We try to set a constructive tone as well given the all volunteer nature of the project.

Please do not work too hard on it though. I would rather you are still here in a month and still married to your wife. It is taking me a few months to complete just one of the Diplomatic or Espionage backgrounds.

As to the nature of Dominion music it is just a suggestion. Take it or leave it. I would like some other users to make any constructive comments though. I am only one set of untrained ears.

Try saving the link to SharePoint under favorites in IE the next time you are there. You may also be able to put it on the tool bar by using the Favorites drop down menu, third choice from the top. I keep my link to the forums there.

Thank you kindly! I appreciate your concern. As for taking it easy, that's what I already do now because I don't work so often in the outside world anymore. Yes, it's true, I felt tired as I told you earlier and I had to take a break, but still, I'm afraid to lose my ideas as I go along creating and I feel I have to take it as it comes.

As for my wife, I was kind of joking, but thank you also. You see, it's partly because of her that I am still making music today. I am too sensible and working in clubs at night was really harassing and nerve burning. I wanted to quit everything and sell my stuff and she gave me the courage to continue and her dream was that I'd be happier and more serene working at home. And here I am, realizing both our dream, taking a contract or two a week, at my pace. We're not rich but we do as we please in life, that is, taking it as it comes. As long as I think to put a balance between work and pleasure, I'll be here with you, be it in a month or more, I won't let you down.
Ahem!... Where was I?... Oh!..yes! The Dominion! I think you had a great idea about the amalgam and I also think it's doable. If I lower down the other sounds, I could add two different voices, that you'd hear distinctively, each singing their part, one high for the Jem'Hadar, and one lower for the Vorta. Do not worry, the overall result will still come loud enough with the help of my studio tools. I'll get on it right away, and be back soon with the re-remixed version. As soon as I finished blabbing here! Thanks again!

As for creating a favorite, I have Opera as my browser but I know what you mean, so I did it now. Thank you!
(Thinking to myself: " I think I should write a book ".)
