You are doing a great job on the background. I do not feel skilled enough to do other than make a suggestion here and there. The Klingon head can wait as it is going to be out of frame in the render.

I am working on a number of features including putting the Federation and Klingon versions of the spy together. If we could "animate" the background these two would morph one to the other but for now just his. Attachment:

I'm amazed at the amount of detail your going into. This is fantastic work, keep it up.

Sorry for the recent inactivity. Stupid real life keeps interfering... Anyway, I found a model for some shuttles and the Daedalus class so they're now included in the image. I made some alterations to the buildings as they were looking (and possibly still do) a bit plain. It's a tricky thing actually, as I don't want to draw attention away from thr central blue Fed building, but if I don't add more detail then the buildings just look a bit plain. I've tried to keep them clean and white looking, in the spirit of the Fed. Also modelled the UFP logo on the building. May need some of your humanoid characters in various uniforms to have wandering about. I had an idea, I can't recall if I've talked about it before: Having certain elements of the image change depending on your tech level. E.g. character's uniforms change depending on the era and, in my case with this image, the ships change, so the Daedalus would be an NX-01 at the start, all the way through to...I dunno, a Centaur or something. That is very impressive work. I have asked Mike about "animation" of the images as well. My issue was making the Klingon agents change from Romulan and Federation to Klingon and back again. That would happen, as I was thinking, while you view the image and not just on the change of tech level. Try a PM to Mike and see if he has unpacked enough in New York to get back to you. Again the work is top notch. I wish I was that good.

I have been busy in the real world as well. That and learning blender 2.5x, the upgrade from 2.49, is taking time. Here is my latest attempt at making the agent appear to change identity. This is assuming we can not animate these backgrounds. Work on the Romulan agent and the foreground is also progressing. Attachment:

I've got a morphing program that you could potentially use to do the animation in, Kenneth. All it would need is the Human, Klingon, and Romulan images. It would then do the rest. The images it makes are .gif's though, so they're unfortunately poor quality. I already used it to animate some of the images you've posted in the past. It's also what I used to morph my own face into a Muppet.

About the federation image. I have just a few ideas. Don't get this the wrong way, I think that what you've done so far is simply awesome. First, could you add a bit more detail to the buildings marked with black. I don't mean plants or anything complex, but something like some insignia on it. Then some some shuttles or something similar on the buildings marked with blue. Then could you make more space between the Daedalus and the building beneath it because I have a feeling like everyone on the bridge is telling "Brace for impact". Then could you add some people (Luna model Kenneth is working on would be perfect) to the areas marked with red. Also could you add some color to the buildings, not a lot, just make some of them a bit, and I mean just a bit, blueish, some yellowish and leave most of them white. Attachment:

I agree with what you're saying about the Daedalus V, but there's a bit of a problem with what you're saying too; there isn't enough room to raise it up without cutting half of it off the picture. The only alternative is to shrink the height of some of the buildings so there is more sky to the image (For the Daedalus to fly in), but this then reduces the sense of height in the image.
...But then the extra sky could be padded out with more shuttles, and perhaps even the moon, or a far-distant starbase in orbit.

Yeah, I agree. We could use the extra sky to add some traffic.
EDIT: I could also give a bit more artistic sky to put in the background. If you want.

For the walkway areas that V has circled in red, I would suggest adding a pale blue colour to the "walls" of the walkways, so they look like the are made of glass. I would also slightly darken that section of the image, as the sunlight is so bright that the detailing in the walkways is being drowned out. I've had a go at butchering your image, Anti. I hope you don't mind, but I just wanted to see what the image could roughly look like if you went ahead with the changes we've suggested. Ultimately it's up to you to make decisions about whether or not to actually make the changes since it's your work.

Eyes bleeding...........
Sorry mate but really? Pink building?
My suggestion was blue, yellow and white, and only blue, yellow and white.
Also is this Earth? If it is then we should only use our own moon and the starbase idea was great, but anything that size would only be a flick of light in the night sky.

I just used Irfanview's autoadjust setting. It made the image pink lol. And the Moon was just Googled. I didn't resize it. I did say I was a butchering the image afterall.

Glad y'all like it so far The image isn't done at all - it's just an update. It'd be good to get the character models so I could have UFP personnel wandering about. There will be more shuttles and various ships that I've managed to get off the internet. The buildings do need some more detail for sure. I really like the Starfleet logo on the building so I'll probably do that. I'll see if I can move the Daedalus (I was thinking it was docked, but if it's not totally clear it should be changed). I'll also add some greebles and nurnies to the buildings to make them a bit more interesting. I'll try altering some colours on them too. Edit: I'm not sure about the stuff in the skyline. I want to stay true as much as I can to Slim's original idea and I think if we start throwing in other stuff for people to look at it'll distract from the overall image and make it a hodge-podge type affair.

I only stuck the Federation emblem on that building because it had a round part sticking out that looked perfect for placing a logo of some kind there - so I just copied-and-pasted the existing Fed logo into the space. But I don't think it would be the best place to put it in terms of realism - afterall, why would you put it there? The building next to it covers up the emblem, making it hard to see and ultimately pointless, especially since the two buildings appear connected, like they're part of the same building. But if you swap it over and put it on the other side, you would have two Fed emblems really close together, and that wouldn't look right in the image either. So I would suggest putting a different image of some kind, perhaps some advertising or something for eg. the Starfleet Corps of Engineers, or the Advanced Starship Design Bureau, or something along those lines. Here's some examples. Note we may need to get permission if you wanted to actually use them.

I think he was referring to the starfleet emblem I painted on the tall building on the left.

just a thought on the deadalus problem. why do u need a flying in starship when u have all those shuttles. Why don´t u implement the ship as a part of a museum. From the series we have heared from a lot of ships that are around earth as museum ships like Voyager in its alternative future. Just an idea how to keep the ship without having it look like 9/11

True - I didn't even notice the other one viceadmiralv wrote: Why don´t u implement the ship as a part of a museum. I assume that early era ships are capable of coming in to ground level as they were smaller. Ex-astris-scientia puts it at 140m. Anyhew, I'll see if I can rearrange some things in the scene and get some space in between it and the buildings.

What if it was part of a parade? Like "Federation Day" or something? Perhaps it's just a hologram, or even a giant balloon lol. Come to think of it, imagine it really was a parade. People standing on the balconies, watching as the ship flies by overhead. Fireworks going off, bunting everywhere. Coooool... ...And while I think about it, shouldn't there be a railing or something around the landing pad of the Starfleet building?

I do have one idea about how to make more room for the Daedalus. Do a render without the Daedalus showing. Put the image in photoshope and scale it down a bit. Past the new image at the bottom center of your original area. Do a render of the Daedalus alone and shop it in the extra space overhead so it has more clearance from the buildings. You would also need to render more skyline buildings for the sides but I think it would end up looking great. It is up to you. That is if you want to get the not docked look. I think Slim's original intended it to be as if in a low fly over.

Just a quick look at what I have been working on. These are the earliest stages of the male Klingon and Klingon as Romulan for Klingon Espionage. The Romulan needs hair the Klingon so far is having a bad hair day. I could leave the Romulan without hair.

The back-story on the hairless look in JJ's film was that it is an old Romulan thing Nero took up as part of a bad boy look for his crew. In that way it is part of both universes. I will do hair just to keep it less controversial. skeeter has set new size limits on avatars. They do not have to be blue but they do need to be smaller.
