Absolutely amazing. One question though, is this Terok Nor or just a station of the same type. I think it would be cool if we placed some celestrial bodies in the background (I'm a nut for celestrial bodies, so feel free to disagree)

I was watching other intros and I have just a small bug to report, during fed and rom intro (nx sequence and tos bop cloacking) there are stars streched in the background, is it perhaps because of the texture or is it a program limitation?

If it's Terok Nor, it could have either Bajor or the Denorios Belt (Purple Nebula) in the background. The only other station that we've seen, Empok Nor, was in deep space though, so there was nothing nearby (Which never made sense to me since it was a mining station. But if it had mined an Asteroid Belt, I suppose it could have used up the entire Belt if it had been operating for long enough).

If you're going to include the OB in the animation Kenneth, will they be static or moving? I know after all the fun of animating Juna you probably don't want to animate anything again, but it would certainly be cool to see them activate.

Oh yeah, you've got to animate the orbital battery! It will be way easier than Romulan Juna.

I attempted to use this as inspiration:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jvzuXDv ... re=related

but here are the new cardassian lines
http://www.mediafire.com/?bm32aqdcnjvusbx

here is the rerecording in .wav of the dominion
(I still like the old MP3 version of dominion but your call)
I also added multiple new voices for the dominion army there are 7 if you need more just say the word and I'll continue.

The Terok Nor is a model I improved on to use in this video. It would take forever to build all these models from the
ground up. Even the Orbital Battery is taking a few days. That is mine alone.

The rig on the OB is much easier than a face. Here is a test of the rig in animation.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQO4_Pz--IM

The smear in the stars is, I suspect, a motion feater. I will try to get a handle on that in the model build.

The new lines are downloaded Blaze. Thanks, and I will listen to them soon.

Exciting and cool and dark: I hope it's a little brighter in the actual. Very nice work. I'm so glad you're doing these videos.

Downloaded the Cards and Doms voices.
I like your first attempt better. I will update when I load them in my studio.
Thank you Blaze! You did a superb job.

Kenneth, now that's a thrilling animation, it looks real and I want this sound you've put in there. :winkthumb: :bigthumb: ..please..?
It could be my monitor, but it seems a little dark to me also. How does it look in your monitor guys?

You're doing great guys, my Bravos to you!

After listening in the studio to the voices you did Blaze, in your first attempt I feel convinced that it is Cardassian.
And the Dominion did as well with the Founder as with the different Jem'Hadar voices.
I believe we have enough voice samples to make a nice group if the case was, and even to take them individually, make different soldier voices.

Excellent job in my humble opinion Blaze! :bigthumb:

The Terok nor station. Is it available in lightwave?

Working on that. The above OB animation is mainly to test the rig.
Quick, back to the Bat Cave Robin!

I guess we could give the Cards a stronger Orbital Battery to offset some other weakness.

yeah my PC fans are killing me here....I don't know what else to do it seems they are always in the background....

I've reset my mic it has 3 settings I did all old ones in 3 this is surround sound basically so I cut it to 1 which is less enviromental sounds. figured it would cut down on my PC fans I get as far away from the PC as I can but the cooling fan is just so so loud. I have a big PC with 2 case fans, liquid cooling, video card fan and then the power supply so ALOT of sound...

if you like I can rerecord in 3. the issue mentioned with the first one for dominion was that it's a .mp3 forgot to change my export to a .wav if you think the .mp3 is fine by all means use it. if not like I said I'll give it another go...sorry :(

something more like this setting 3, noise removal, pitch change. closer to original trial for dominion and it's a .wav

As funny as it may seem, I prefer your first try even better Blaze. I don't believe we should change it, unless someone thinks differently. Anyway, I've kept both, just in case...

About your fans, don't worry too much, we'll find a compromise in a way or an other. We'll work by PM-ing each other and find a trick to lower them down.

Corsair makes a nice simple self-contained water cooling system with a fan you can't hear. It's a large fan that won't work on many older PC cases. Then there's always the fan in the power supply. I understand there are power supply fans that are said to be quieter. Just to keep in mind because these may be cheaper than a lot of audio equipment.

We discussed the strength of the OB's a few weeks ago in the Developer's Content forum, Kenneth. Originally we were going to have the OB's all the same stats-wise (Like in BOTF), but we did then decide to add in some variation. I posted some example stats, but I don't think anyone took them up.

From what I remember, int he example stats, I gave the Cardassian OB's the most powerful weapons and very tough hulls, but I gave them poor shields and a relatively small number of weapons. They also had a high energy cost.

I also suggested some possible bonuses for the other Empires. The Romulans for instance could have cloaked OB's (But they would be poorly defended), whilst the Federation ones could be self-repairing (Like the self-replicating minefield around the Wormhole)

I like the idea about variation in the races. Not overly complicated tech trees but different performance pointing the human player to different tactics.
:borg:

So if I do a game trailer with the Borg reporting on the major races in Supremacy what do I say, in a few words, about each race?

By the way I have a 3D drawing of the self replicating mines. Different than the orbital battery but if it is needen in the game...

It looks easy to build as an ingame combat engine model. There are no mines in game but if you want to put it in as the Romulan Orbital Battery that would work.

I can only second that if I may be so bold to state my opinion. ;)
I am playing Birth of Empires curerntly with the Star Trek Mod and to my surprise (it has been 2 years since i last played it) the races play really differently. Means with Feds you really want to be peaceful and expand through diplomacy mainly and use your tech advance for instance and with klingons it should be the opposite, lots of fighting, invading and strong industry.
To get the OP adjusted accordingly is really icing on the cake!

Great stuff you create here and believe me when i say that my wife and I can't wait for the new version hopefully later this year! :waah:

I guess you mean that the current Romulan OB is hard to make a 3D low poly model?

I am sure I can convert the Romulan 2D to lower poly 3D

Ok I'm noticing the fan is barly there but it bothers me, you mentioned the Cards are a bit low but the Dominion is good so here is a redo of the Cards

I've given options setting 1 and 3 on mic and then one of each unchanged and one of each with my alterations let me know :D

Thank you deeply for your hard work Blaze.
Yes in fact, they're all different, all good recordings, but I do prefer the first one (Noise Reduction and Compressor Level 3) and the fourth (Normal Level 3) although this last one saturates a tiny bit at the start but I can fix it easily.
2 and 3 are a little too low to my liking but since they're different, they can also be used . I also noticed that the fans noises are not bothering in neither, I'd really have to make them distort to hear them, but at normal level, and with the other effects and the music inserted, it will all mix pretty well.
I would definitely keep No 1 for the intro.
Kenneth, how about you?

Good Job Blaze! :bigthumb:
I guess we won't have to work on them again. I have given a date to each recordings for when I do my cleanup. This one is 09/29/2011.

Sweet, ok so I'll keep my audio on setting 3 for my mic and .wav.

the noise reduction and compression is the same file, but with those modifications to it. I am learning more and more about audacity :D looking forward to more :D

also has my ingame voices been added to in game? I think that is the next step is to record more for more races... or is there another intro to work on?

In time I will come back to improve the video for the intros but have no
plans to change the audio tracks.

I would guess we will find other places where a voice clip would be nice ingame.
There is that suggestion about a little video clip to introduce events like the Borg.
Mike will have to OK any of this but I hope it happens at some point.

Blaze, if you did not catch it Malvoisin has shared with us some recording of
game play in BTOE. In most of these you can hear some voice clips
that I recorded for this game a few years back. Start at the bottom of the list.

http://svn.star-trek-games.com/birth/videos/

When the time comes I hope Mike will use some of what we already
have on SharePoint and some of what you can do in Supremacy.

btw. have you taken a look at the Star Trek Aurora fan films (fully CG-animated)? Although most parts of at least the first part that I watched are held in shiny pinky colors, some of them seem quite fine, don't know, remember me of Kenneth's Romulan character in his video.

Link: http://www.auroratrek.com/episodes.html (I especially like the Vulcan crew member at the beginning of the video)

I like the new klingon voice in the youtube supremacy intro video. A re-record of the ogg files (kha_*.ogg in bote sound subfolder) in our current bote alpha release would be well-appreciated and surely be used in the next alpha if Blaze wants to. Especially the UI game menu parts as listed here: http://www.botf2.com/Shared%20Documents/Sound%20Recordings/UI%20Game%20Menu/ would be nice to be rerecorded in a different voice. Since most of these files are not trek-specific, they can be used in both supremacy and bote when their implementation is due.

A simple klingon-type "affirmative" (obviously qa'pla wouldn't work with bote, let's just assume Worf would say it to the Captain, he wouldn't use qa'pla either ;)) would be cool. A whole set of in-game klingon-type voiced messages like "A new technology has been crafted" or something like that would be what we need finally. The current in-game bote records for inspiration and/or exact re-recording can be downloaded here: http://svn.star-trek-games.com/birth/Khaoron%20Empire%20Voices.zip

I hope you do take on the BTOE voices Blaze. We should have thought of that sooner.

Wish I had the skill to rig human models that well. -

I am getting some of the models ready to animate the Cardassian Orbital Battery encounter.
