You might even be able to cheat and use a collage of micro-clips from the videos you already made and then just have the supremacy title fade in as the game opening video.

Assuming all goes well with the plans currently laid out, do you foresee making mini videos like for major events? Something like: "The Borg arrive in your sector for the first time" (popping up a little video of a Borg cube/sphere coming out of Transwarp, with some ominous music) or something like “A major research discovery has been found on the planet” (Having a mini video of space craft landing on a planet and collecting something)… etc.

There are so many features now on planning that I cannot elaborate on them until they're really official but yes, you will see many animations about all sorts of events, many of which have been featured in many Star Trek series, with images, animations, sounds and music. But to tell you how many... Big I believe there will be an announcement or a teaser soon, answering many questions that the fans are asking. Again, can't say when. Sorry! We will see if Mike thinks there is room in the download for it. We will see if someone starts coding a combat engine and we need an upgrade on our ship models. For now I am working on the Cardassian intro. That much I know is in the game.

At the moment, the Borg are planned as a random event. Random events have already been implemented in the game, as you have probably noticed in the current game release. But we only have one random event actually programmed in as it was meant as a proof of concept more than anything. This has not changed even with our developer builds of the game. There is still only one random event in there, and it's the exact same religious one that halts production in a random system. But the Borg are planned to work in the same way, so when they show up, a popup window would appear with an image. A video would definitely be a nice improvement, but it's up to Mike to make that decision. Plus Kenneth would be the one that actually makes it, and he has to decide if he wants to do it in the first place. But we can easily include the "ominous music" you mention even if we stick to this format, Kaladin. When the religious event happens, organ music also plays. So we could have a small snippet of ominous music - or even have some drones announcing their presence. For legal reasons though, we'll likely make our own Borg voice effects rather than use something taken from the shows/films. As it stands though, this is what the Borg would show up like. The empires have their own individual popup messages, so i've hilighted them in colours that should be relatively obvious. The white text is how we plan them to work, but note that this is highly subject to change. Sounds really good with the Borg. Maybe they could show up and start to actually invade planets and build up an real empire or so? Just an idea... Of course they still should be really strong so that the majors would ally against them and they should not appear too early. Maybe they could appear very close to the most powerful empire (to balance a game out a bit to make it more interesting) or if there is not unclaimed space left on the edge of the territory of this most powerful party. Just some thoughts for you Devs. Now, we are getting quite offtopic guys and also, please don't get me wrong, but I would love to see the focus in development of this game more in the core systems like AI and game functionality in general. Yeah I was thinking as much. I was figuring you hade different people working on different parts so was just popping down suggestions, not wanting to increase the already large list of things to do. Besides adding in the little videos for an event (assuming the events make it into the game) can probably be done afterwards and added in pretty easily (I say probably because I'm guessing).

We do have people working on different areas. The problem is that there are just so few of us working on the game. Manpower is the one thing we seriously lack. The more people that work on the game, the more we can get done, and the sooner we release the game.

I wish I could help more than just suggestions but my time is limited and I'm not sure my skills would prove much use. I know you have a jobs section in the forums but it seems almost abandoned. What is it you guys need right now, I might be able to learn something or already know something that can at least be minorly useful. My field of expertise is Project Management (Computer programming and business), and a little in website design. My skill in programming are pretty basic and are more useful as QA/Tester than actually creating something myself. If you have a list of things that need help I can see if I match with any of them and I might at least be able assist someone.

Looks can be deceiving; the jobs section is actually pretty up to date. Don't go by the post dates, because we're constantly updating the first posts of threads with the latest info. Programmers are the one thing we really need, but Mike has said he won't let programmers help unless they have at least three years experience or a computer degree due to the complexity of the game. Unfortunately, to my knowledge, no one with the required skills has volunteered in the last five years.
In terms of art though, we're steaming ahead. Bashir, Kenneth, and Happytrek are all working on 2D art, models, videos, and music. You can see samples of this work across the forums, as well as on our Youtube channel. We also post regular updates on what is happening on our Facebook page.

Thanks Kenneth for your feedback. Nice to know it could be useful. I'm working on another one right now. It has an electric guitar at the start and I plan to add violins and maybe some soft horns in it. A slower feel, it might be used in the Map section in peace time, where a smooth pace is needed. I like it, since it is a quick beat piece, I can see it as a combat music. I'm imagining a battle versus Q where all of Qs ships are giant chess pieces and that music playing in the background. I can also see it for the music they would play during a collage scene where several scenes are strung together under one musical piece.
