Thanks Kenneth!

I guess it should be easy to loop. I still have a few seconds to add to it for a length of around one minute, or more.
I added some percussion to it.
Here is the same version with drums.

Attack ability & Drums

How does it sound to you? Too much drums...or not?... I'm only making tests so it can be modified any time.

I was wondering, since in combat mode I guess there will be weapons sounds, if my drums will mix well with the song or if it will be too stuffy...
Anyway, if they are, I can always take them off or lower them.

If I recall correctly in BOTF the user has some choices to make and the music plays while they decide. It could always be lowered or turned off during the actual 3D action.

It could also play for users not in the fight just to let them know what is going on. So players not seeing the fight do not get to frustrated they could go off to surf the web. They would know to come back from the porn site when the music stops.

That reminds me. We should collect a set of links to porn that player could click on while waiting for combat to end. XXXX :borg:

I guess you're right about the choices to make.
Here comes the final version:

Attack ability + drms final
I tried to make it so it can loop easily.

Yeah! I guess a lot of guys would be happy to know them...before the game! :grin:

It sounds right. We will know more about integrating it when work starts on the combat engine.

I agree. Until then, it may also change.

They are all great pieces there, good work. Your work always makes me like the supremacy project even more.

Please take no offense to this, but I actually like the first version, with no drums, it sounds tenser, more moody, and just better. Now this might just be my taste, but the part I think it might be is symbol sounds, the drums are probably fine. It is just my opinion, but honestly it is great all three ways you have demonstrated it.

Thank you Kaladin for this comment. No offense taken.
It's good to have different opinions, from different people. It helps me improve the song and adjust to everyone's taste.
I will make a new version with no cymbal so you can tell me how you like it.

I deleted the cymbal in the song. I also improved the brasses for better ones. See, your suggestion was useful for this one. :smile:

Attack Ability no cymb

Tell me what you think. It's cut short for looping purposes.

I think I like this newest one, the original still has something in it that’s attractive; I just wish I could tell what it was. Now I like both but, they are different, I wonder what it is I like about both.

The original one sounds like a more mysterious and important combat, where as the newest one seems more intense and quicker. Not sure if that helps.

I can see what Kaladin means and might be able to put it into words (maybe). In the original there is something more distinct about the frantic higher trumpet tone quality. This is diminished in the other pieces either directly or by the addition of other elements like the drums. The lower horns are also more menacing without the additional sounds and together really paints a picture as you listen to it. Almost like the trumpets convey your reaction to the attack facing off against the menacing lower horns of your opponent. Adding the drums confuses it. Do they go with the menacing lower horns? No, doesn't quite fit. Do they go with the higher horn response? Not quite, because the drums have a military base quality. They "organize" it, like soldiers falling into line at roll call. Presumably you are somewhat surprised by the attack. The battle is going to be disorganized.

I also personally like the first one best, which doesn't diminish your skill in any way.

Thank you!
If I refer to what you beautifully depicted here Sir Bashir, you mention that the first attempt had a higher trumpet tone quality, I was on the impression that it was the opposite since the latter ones were bigger in size, thus better quality. But, I guess they were fitting with the lower horns which also were more lower in tone definition. All the group was melting together since they were from the same make. But I seemed to have changed that by adding more defined horns but keeping the muffled drums, but still, in a straight military pattern, where the Organized mix with the Disorganized.

Organized? Yes because there are orders to be followed, "like soldiers falling into line..." (drums). Disorganized? Yes also because you don't really know what is happening in the battle (the horns and the strings part). I added the lower horns hoping to give a 'manly' bad feel to the battle so to say, whereas the higher horns gives an alert that something (Bad) is happening, like a dog that is barking... :smile:

The other and simpler reason is that I used two distinct makes of horns but kept the old drums in both. It still is a work in progress though... As I find newer sounds, I mix and match, try and re-try. I might even try it with the drum sounds also... I won't change the song, only the sounds. Or maybe I'll try some other patterns for the drums...

With all those explanations Kaladin, you should find your answer, I hope...

Again,thank you guys for your comments...An unfinished story...

You're efforts are always appreciated. For now, don't lose the first recording - for those of us (two?) Who really like it. But can't wait to see what you do next. :love:

This one is a bit modified, it's been normalized and made a better time loop. I also changed the drums part.
With all those versions done, there should be an ideal one to compare and choose from for ingame. I'll keep them that way until it is needed ingame.

Attack ability Final

Thanks for all your comments. You help me get better every time.

Sounds great, I like the most last 3 seconds of the track, can you do it that part little longer?

You mean where the violins are trilling on the note (note up. note down, note up, note down...in a fast pace? ~~~~~~~~
Yes I suppose I could make it longer...

I must say I don't know how you do it but each piece you release is good, this new one especially. Even though each is technically the same piece of music they all have their own character.

Nice work.

I think I get what he means that last 3 secs build up but it ends a bit abruptly; it seams it never gets to the peak, maybe making it longer will work. You probably ended it like that so it can loop right?

@Zeleni,
No problem, friend! As long as I understand what you mean.

@Kaladin
Thank you for appreciating!
Yes, it has to stop abruptly because it has to link with the start of the song. But I can add a bit of that end part to the start of the song, at lower volume and build it up to match with the real starting horns, which will make a new introduction.

@Captain Bashir
Glad you like it!

Thank you Kenneth for those kind words!
You're also a Master in your own domain. Just to look at what you do makes me want to do more. :bigthumb:

Here's a version with a Strings intro to match with the ending. I have a little problem making it loop exactly but I guess it should be fine. What's your say on this one?
I haven't done the longer ending, instead I added at the start, Zeleni. Hope you like it...

Attack Ability Strings Intro

Later, I'll have to make a clean up of those old versions...before I fill up SharePoint's servers... :lol:

The way I get images for backgrounds to loop easily is to cut the image in half and place the back at the front and the front at the back, that way the middle will now be the two ends. This allows me to work on the middle section so that it joins seamlessly. Afterwards it won't matter where the image is cut in half and joined on any end it will match. I assume you could do the same with the music so that the front and back match.

@Kaladin:
It could work out if I had to make many copies of the song, but in this case, I only do one copy. It will repeat itself in the game, depending on how long the player stays in the scene, but it has to start first at the very beginning.
Nice try though! :smile: Thanks!

The problem I have here is because I have about a millisecond of silence at the ending or at the start, which causes the song to pause before it starts again. I have to find the exact place where to cut it to eliminate that silence. Not easy...doable but not easy. Might take time, but I'll find it.
:mrgreen:

Ok! I got it!

New and final version

Attack Ability Final_Perfect Loop

I found the problem with the looping. I didn't have the same sound than the ending. It's corrected now.
Again Kaladin, you'll find it same but different :smile: I'm like the mad scientist. :drool: hehe, hehehe, heehee!
Thank you all for your help.
PS.: Please, don't try to compare with the other one up earlier, because I used the same name and erased the other one.. they're both the same.
