The ships, all af them, can choose two combat instances: avoid or engage. How has you resolved this in the french translation? Engage is a french term, in spanish the most similar verb is: Entablar. A very polisemic verb, at lest more than ten uses, only in spain, with another number in another american countries.
The bad is that this verb alone in his military side NEEDS to be accompanied of a substantive: entablar batalla, entablar conversacion, entablar relaciones, etc... So, I need to say in spanish ENTABLAR COMBATE.

The other expresion, with the advantage of only need one word is ATACAR (the verb) or perhaps the expression EN GUARDIA.

For AVOID, i can choose EVITAR o EVADIR.

In spanish to describe the mood of a military action is always made with multiple words, english is different, they don´t spent so many words.

Listos para combatir
Alerta (The only single word, but just for sentinels or scouts)

Unfortunately, there's no actual translation work to be done at the moment; there is no editor that allows for translations, and no text file with all the text in that needs to be translated. We need to finish working on the English for the game first, then we'll be able to get you all working on translations. Doing it before the English version is complete is only going to cause problems and more work later on.

I'll personally contact everyone when the time comes to start work on the translations. Don't worry, if you change your minds about working on the translations at a future date, you will not be obligated to help.

The translation isn't on the way yet because the game texts are still in the process of being written and rewritten...

I think Matress and possibly others don't fully agree (which is ok) but I think that the manual needs to parallel program development so that it doesn't get too far behind. It will be quite a job to do it from the beginning once the program is done. If you start translating it into German is fine with me.

Well you're welcome to start translating the manual if you want to, but I personally feel that we will be wasting a lot of work and effort if we work on it before the game is complete. But I won't stop you from having a go. Good luck if you try.

Ah Matress Unless Mike goes back and reprograms a LOT we "manual labourers" should get a long fine Happy 2012 mate!
