I did voice overs for all the new races in Ultimate Mod. They were ok but I had a crappy microphone, so they didn't come out very loud or clear (not like the studio quality of the BOTF1 recordings certainly). I also refused to due a Ferengi impression, so those were done with a plain voice, lol. And no, Matress will not be performing with his Welsh accent!! hehehhe only kidding dude, hey, perhaps I could do broad Bristolian like I did in UM, lol...? |

Na, I wouldn't want to have my voice in the game. Besides, i'm already making my own contributions - some of my ideas are in the game and i'm making the random events. I'm happy enough with that. |

I use to do voice acting (ie commercials, etc) Maybe you could just prepare text and tell people to record themselves saying it (ie for whatever race) and then sit around one day choosing which ones you like best for which races, etc. That's usually how you do it in the biz. |

Do we also have home-made or free-to-use sound effects for menu navigation like in botf (you remember the short klicking menu control sounds representing LCARS sound effects)? At sharepoint there's kenneth's folder with battle sound effects but I didn't find a menu sound folder. |

I have some voices to go with menus but have not worked on any sound effect. If you want to record then what we need right now are voices for the combat engine. The statements need to fit into fast passed combat so we are limited to one, two or at most three word phrases. I was hoping for a lot of variety in voices and wording, as much as you can with only one or two words. I have set up the folder to hold the recordings for each major races and suggested the nature of the wording in the names of the folder. This link goes to the Romulan Combat folder. I could raid my Trek games for sound files if you really need them Mal, but those wouldn't be home-made nor free-to-use then. I've got BOTF, Legacy, Armada 1, and Starfleet Command 2, so that's a lot of potential files... |

I collected some sounds from soundsnap.com . They've got tons of good&free menu sounds and also some nice combat voices (search for "shields" there). Some are here in the package: http://svn.star-trek-games.com/birth/Sounds.7z |
