New thread for space background tests!

@ Wolfe

First side is finished, i don't have your combat demo so i can't preform testing, let me know how fits if it's ok i' ll do other five parts. :wink:

If you think that there is too much small stars just scale down brigtness in image editor, starfield should look like this:

You might want to ask for suggestions or help with skyboxes on the HLP (Hard Light Productions) forums.

FS2 SCP uses a spherical skybox and it looks great.

Here's a question; how did BOTF do it? i've never seen a join; not that i've looked for one lol. But then again there's little to show where a join would be anyways.

Cause there wasn' t classic join. Skybox was treated like ship, single poly object (some kind of sun) with texture placed at distant location from battle groups. Black background was nude scene or i think it was.

It would but we want big scene with zillion of stars and nebulas. Actually Wolfe uses same thing like Botf only he has for objects each with one polygon welded in box shape. Problem is each corner of box where texture gets crumpled.
