I'd say lean more towards green and blue. Pink seems to be a TNG era/BOTF quirk. They avoided using pink in Nemesis and the new one. These are images of the Romulan capital if it helps:

Hey Ken can you do the deadliest Romulan “mining artichoke vessel” that kills 43 years of Star Trek next? ~Val

I also wondered about what kind of plants we are referring to here. Photosynthetic or smoke stack? Photosynthetic sounds cool, very SiFi.
Spoiler alert: Attach of the killer artichokes from outer space is the name of the next ST movie.

The BOTF image of the Romulan Senate doesn't normally come with transparencies applied - in fact none of the images do. I manually applied transparencies to all the BOTF images myself using M$ Paint to make them look a bit better. Some images worked, some didn't. And some of them required a huge amount of work, such as the Antedean one because it was full of holes - so I was slightly annoyed at first when I saw you'd made a new one. Attachment:

... It's not the Artichokes you should be afraid of. It's the Cabbages.

Does the game require that the images Tarek is making come on a transparent background?

The vessel that carried some red matter that created a cataclysmic reaction when it came into contact with matter, and which was extracted with a *needle*? Yeah, please do that one!

No, there is no requirement for this at all. Same goes with the ships. I just thought that in the case of the old BOTF images, they would look better if they did, which is why I put so much work into doing it. It's up to Tarek to decide whether he wants to give his images a background or not. ... Wasn't the red matter supposed to save them?

I recall in the dim past that Mike had said ships should be on a transparent background. The game supplied the background for them. I do not recall what he said about the other lesser images used in the game.

sorry about that I know how eye bleeding cleaning images can be I just though that you wanted to change ALL the BOTF images and it was on the "to do list" I got from the 2D images post and felt aquatic sort of that day so I said .... oh well I always thought the Ante. bouns building was lame since it gave nothing worthy in BOTF so I made this new one which looks cooler I think and yes the startrek movie was EPIC although they changed the time line now I guess it will give them a chance to "remake" startrek sort of to be more or less closer to reality which will make it more likable by the avarge population on this planet and besides the warp drive, time travel, ... and some other stuff I think the Startrek world is not that far from now one can dream right .... everything you see around you is a result of someone's dream ..... THINK ABOUT IT ... no .... really THINK about that your coffee table was IMAGENED by someone before it came to life if you can imagene a table you can imagene a starship makes no difference and yes I found it wierd that the romulans didn't evacuate romulus before it got crapped since space events like NOVA are quit hard to miss and I think they would have had like 50 to 60 years to act on it but that's just me still I loved the movie and I want more

Yes, we do want to eventually remove all BOTF-derived images from the game, even the ones that weren't actually displayed ingame even though they were present in the program files, but this is mainly to remove any questions of the legalities of using the images. They are only in the game at the moment because we needed at least *something* to start the game off with. ... I agree that many of the technologies in trek are possible glimpses of the future. We wouldn't have mobile phones if it wasn't for Trek's Communicators afterall. And just think what the world would be like without mobile phones...

So MOE were you putting a transparent background on those images by erasing? In programs like GIMP and photoshop you can select by color. If the backdrop is all one color you can select it and delete it to expose the transparent areas. It may take a little work to get the edges but I can help if you have more images like that to work on.

I pasted the images into M$ Paint, then manually redrew every individual background pixel the same colour. (Which explains why the edges are so jagged on the structures) I used a colour that was only one or two colour points away from pure black so that the human eye couldn't detect the colour difference. Then I pasted the new image into Irfanview and applied transparencies to the single background colour as the program saved it as a .png file.
I know of no other way of doing it which is why I did it that way. The only program that i've got that is more advanced than Paint is Paint Shop Pro 9, but I have no idea how to use that program so i've uninstalled it. I've still got the installer though, even if it is an old program now.
