Sorry to all those that tried to join us in game testing but could not make it for whatever reason.

We found that port 808 has nothing to do with Supremacy after all. It all appears to be on port 4455. Also you may not need to specifically forward that port in your router. Most firewalls seam to set it up for players automatically as well.

The build 20110611 (version 0.4.4173.26562) worked well in multiplayer until we got to combat. Ship to ship combat crashed the game for us. I was able to use system assault to attack one planet. We tried earlier versions as well with mixed results.

To test the game take multiplayer from the main menu. Enter the player’s name you want to use and you can then click the host key or, if you are joining the host’s game, enter an IP address for the host in the Direct Connect field.

I emailed Mike about our work and hope to try again this next Sunday.

It appears from testing today that:

1) The firewalls Matress and I use have no problem working with Supremacy on the fly. We turned off any manual port rules what we had made and the program worked OK.

2) Router port forwarding for port 4455 appears to only be required for the host.

3) If an online game crashes the host should take load game and select the autosave file. It will, as a multiplayer saved game, reopen the multiplayer window so other player can check back in by IP. Your game is not lost. You only go back a turn or two.
