Erm, both of mine are captures from Enterprise. I noticed a lot of other images were like so, and I thought that is ok... is it?

The Gorn Pic is just the one that BlasterMaster put up - like I said, I just sent it to my Photobucket account so it would show up without having to link it.

You can make sure the pic will always be there as well.

You mean like have different pics, but you only see one of the at a time? So you see their main pic, but once they have changed govt/become a member of a race, the pic would change?

On the surface, that would work and would run really well. However, with some races (The Sheliak spring to mind) there are very, very few pics of the race.

Even if people were to get screen captures, there wouldn't be enough pics for some of these races.

The alternative would be for someone to 'make' more pics, but I think that would be a little too much work, and it would make the game less canon. Remember, we want to make the game as canon as possible. (Without affecting gameplay too much)

I'd go for it if it is possible, but perhaps it should be somewhat limited? So only the 'major minors' would get this treatment (Like the Vulcans etc.)

Anyway, a similar system has already been employed in the BOTF2 Database! The 5 Empires all have rotating pictures when you select them (So you see their icon, then a picture of a member of that race, picture of a ship, and so on)

I hope these are the sorts of things that you mean?

Well i don't think this would be good. We good ofcourse do something that is bound with the technology level of a race, but not a picture slideshow....

One should carefully read each of the descriptions for grammatical and vocabulary errors. For one, I don't think the Vulcan's have an 'empire' nor is 'The Nyrians are a humanoid race that excels at trickery of others' a perfect sentence (The Nyrians are a humanoid race that excels in decieving others).

Grammatical perfection shows our professionalism....

I am amused though you will find I am no typical Swindon boy. While I have dwelt in Swindon for the past 16 years, I have developed no accent nor have I reverted to the status of a 'primitive'.

I would be happy to develop short, adequate and beautifully written descriptions for each of the races once I return from my holiday in two weeks. I would also be happy to write descriptions regarding the major powers as well. Call it my contribution to the game.

Once I am done, I would be happy to e-mail them to the appropriate person.

Deffinatly not now they're part of the Federation but before 2161 maybe. The Klingons and Romulans had pretty strong Empires even then though, i reckon

Yeah, but for the Vulcans the tone "Empire" is too... militaristic. Not with the ideology of peace to call yourself an empire...

perhaps switch the word to territory, or influence?

Empire: (dictionary.com deffinition) -
1. A political unit having an extensive territory or comprising a number of territories or nations and ruled by a single supreme authority.
2. The territory included in such a unit.
2. An extensive enterprise under a unified authority: a publishing empire.
3. Imperial or imperialistic sovereignty, domination, or control: “There is a growing sense that the course of empire is shifting toward the... Asiansâ€￾ (James Traub).

Sounds like it, although you could then say you are a member of the Empire of the United Federation of Planets... 8O

I thought Schwarzenegger was keeping that a secret...?

Perhaps we could group the different races under the different definitions that TrekBoyChris found?

Quote:

So the Federation would be either number 1 or the (Second) number 2 (Think I spot a mistake there  ) Since we all know of the great Federation of Publishing...

The Klingons would be Number 3 (Or is that 4?) Imperialists to the bone, they are.

The Romulans would be...unknown...

The Cardassians would be number 1. They are a political unit...no mention of a military though...

The Dominion would then be (The first) number 2, since that is all that is left.

There you go then, talk about a pointless post! (I have got 2 weeks to make up for, afterall)

Heh, I knew that little Austrian was planing something (Image)

And the Romulans are No2, under the Federation

And, finaly, a good point Matress... While I'm glad we sorted out who is what in regard to the word empire, we still haven't solved the question, Where do the Vulcans fit?

I think it would be nice for all concerned to experience a teaser of the first five races written up by me. Tell me what you think..

Teaser wrote:
Acamarians

The Acamarians are a space faring race with an extremely violent past by comparison to most interstellar species; this is because politically, Acamar utilises an archaic clan structure. Efforts to move beyond the brutal feuding of the past have resulted in the formation of a central government headed by a Sovereign. Physically, they are humanoid in appearance possessing vertical cranial ridges as well as a rather unique iron-copper blood composite. Their ships are capable technologically of sufficiently defending their homeworld.

Akaali

The Akaali are a pre-industrial society a few centuries from warp-capable spaceflight and therefore are wary of alien contact. While still a primarily agrarian society, this is not to say that their methods in farming and medicine are not without merit for a species of their level of sophistication.

Algolians

A friendly and peaceful race that tends not to make use of spacefaring propulsion; they possess an average level of technology in relation to most galactic species. Instead they are well known in the arts particularly for their ceremonial music.
A humanoid race, they have a leathery golden skin with small circular openings situated on their heads particularly near the nostrils and near their forehead ridges.

Andorians

Andorians are a passionately aggressive and territorial race with a war-plenty past. Physically, they are a humanoid species with distinctive blue skin, sensory antennae and higher metabolism. Due to the frozen nature of their homeworld, they are not tolerant of hot temperatures. Socially, they are militaristic and family-orientated placing a high priority on honour as shown by the extensive use of the Ushaan; a code of honour demanding a duel to the death. Their military, embodied in the Andorian Imperial Guard is strong utilising heavily armed ships to defend their space.

Angosians

The Angosians are a peaceful race that have in modern times chosen to focus on intellectual pursuits. In the past however, their planet was consumed in the tempest of the bitter Tarsian wars involving the use of genetically and chemically engineered troops. After a failure to integrate them socially, these soldiers were confined as outcast criminals to the Angosian moon of Lunar V. Their technology is below average despite warp-capability with their ships being generally used for transport and exploration rather than aggressive expansion and warfare.

Good. Is this list, the final decided races for the release game?

http://www.trekmania.net/temp_files/min ... akdown.htm

I don't want to write more descriptions than I need to.

The list is final as far as I know, although i'd check just in case.

There might have been changes in the few weeks since Dafedz made it, although I don't think there have been.

Most of mine probably need to be replaced anyways, most of them weren't that good, they were based off the need for generic descriptions. (BTW they are on p.1)
