i am currently setting up (or trying to lol) the lobby system for my game and i realized i don`t recall anyone ever mentioning a game zone like the old msn zone for supremacy or bote, are these planned for at all? |

Never heard about anything planned like that. We could make something, that the game logs into a server somewhere, and checks for other users and games that are available. You can then decide if you want to make access to multiplayer to work with a password or not, making it either available for public or making it private. What do you think? |

The thing i will prob use has a lobby plugin. Only it requires a dedicated server: http://www.jenkinssoftware.com/raknet/manual/lobby.html and a PostgreSQL install. I could also use an php alternative, http://www.jenkinssoftware.com/raknet/manual/phpdirectoryserver.html, it is easier but less professional and is lacking in some areas. |

Does Supremacy actually need a lobby? The game has a Multiplayer system already built in and working... |

It is a nice way to find and connect with players. |

Matress_of_evil wrote: Does Supremacy actually need a lobby? The game has a Multiplayer system already built in and working... You can also use a server, where all the available games will be put on. This makes it possible to easily join a game. This will only be enabled, when you do a internet game. You can also put in a password, so that only people who know it can join the game, etc.. Next to that, you can also make it possible within the game, that a player can join a game, with IP. A network game, is far more easier then this, so nothing gets changed with that, neither with hotseat (lol prob won't make it) or similar. |

Ah k then. I don't have much experience with lobbies other than for Armada 1, coz of all the convoluted ways I have to use to get BOTF to multiplay. |
