after installing the game and having some trouble with it that I schouldn't have, I am wondering if I perhaps just downloaded the wrong files.

Well the game is here http://www.startreksupremacy.com/ but did you download install a working net framework? You could also delete and try reinstlling the game files.

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems. As Kenneth said, you first need to download the .Net Framework, but you need to have a specific version of it as well; .Net 3.5 SP1. That is the latest available version, and you can download it from

Once that is installed, download the game from Once that file is downloaded, you will need to unzip it with an archiving program such as (Free Trial Only) or (Which is free but is much less user-friendly)

Use whatever program you choose to unzip the files into a folder of your choice. Once that is complete, open the folder and locate the file called SupremacyClient.exe, then load it up.

If you have problems let us know. Oh, and what version of Windows do you have? There are some other things you need to do to get it working if you have Windows 7.

do you also know when it is possible to automate buildings in the systems and if the game freezing bug is still there?

Automate buildings? As in have the game decide what to build for you?

That won't be coming for a long while yet, as it requires the implementation of an AI (Artificial Intelligence). We have big plans for the AI, but it will likely be the single most complex part of the game for Mike to program. He has started to program the AI, but a working version certainly won't be in the next update, and we don't even know when that will be released yet.

As for the freezing bug, the game hasn't been updated since May, so yes, the game does still sometimes freeze on you. All I can say is save your game regularly, but if you've played the original birth of the Federation, then you know to do that already.
