Kenneth_of_Borg In The Structure Images Thread wrote: The fast and dirty would be put a few fighters in a rigid formation and save it as one .3DS model file. It would play like one ship, turn like a lawn mower and be easy to build from a generic attach ship (fighter) we already have. A nice fight in orbit, big planet in the background, would look hot and be a big improvement over BOTF 1. ...So you're not the only one that has thought of that, Hexadex. Kenneth is our resident modeller and keeper of all things 3D, so there's a good chance that something like this will actually turn up. We might even be able to set the "damage" textures to make the fighters "blow up" one-by-one, as though they were being wiped out during the battle...

After seeing the new star trek movie, will any of this ships be introduced. I thought that some of the new Federation ships going to warp looked cool as well as the Kelvin.

I am not currently working on any ships from the new film. It is likely others are working on them and as we gain access they may enter into the mix. This is our minor race squadron

The shiplist as it currently stands was decided on after four years worth of discussions both on and off the forums - the new Trek movie could therefore not have been taken into account. ...Plus there's the fact it's in an alternate timeline. Therefore it isn't technically canon. As Kenneth said, that likely won't stop people making the models. We'll always hold onto them if people make them. People can always mod them into their games later on if they want.

Also since the time line was altered, dosent that mean everything we know about trek could be changed?

jszrom, I am glad to see you are interested in models. Here is some information that may help. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=885I purchased a copy of the program Milkshape and use it to make the mesh. A mesh is the 3D shape of the model. The mesh is a series of dotes in space connected by lines to make interlocking triangles that are also referred to as polygons or polys. Then I use a second program, Ultimate Unwrap, to apply the texture. Textures are 2d images that are applied to the shape, to the triangles, to give it color and more detail. There are tutorials online for both programs. If you are still interested after looking over this information we can talk more about it. I have made some models for the game. With the need for so many models most of my work has been to find models online that we can get permission to use. Once I have one we need it is a matter of altering it to work in this game.

Jszrom wrote: Also since the time line was altered, dosent that mean everything we know about trek could be changed? No, it doesn't. The timeline was an alternate timeline, not a replacement. This is evidenced by the fact that both Nero and Spock existed in the alternate timeline, which therefore means it must still exist, otherwise you would have a paradox. Of course, the question of what happened to (Old) Spock at the end of the film and why he didn't try to stop the alternate timeline from being created in the first place was never answered...

Yeah I loved it, but I was torn in two. The Trekky in me just doesn't like plot holes and inconsistencies...much like every other Trekky out there feels.

I'm 23. We've got a thread somewhere where people have posted all info like that about themselves. I've also got it displayed in my profile.
