You would have to play every day, exploring at least 1,000 sectors a day for over 60 years straight just to explore the entire galaxy (not counting actually building anything), and I'm sure you'd lose interest after the first few years.

For those of us without a supercomputer, how about a user-definable map size? That way, those folks with bleeding edge systems can have huge galaxies, while folks like me can have a smaller map, but can grow as the system capabilities grow...
