Hi Folks,
In the second version of the editor, when one creates a new minor race, the technological levels you choose from in the 'tech curve' are as follows:
Backward Primative Developed Sophisticated Advanced Supreme
What numerical tech levels do these adjectives represent? How about a numerical setting (from 0-255) instead? May as well take advantage of the 255 tech levels in the game...

The levels don't currently represent physical levels. They instead refer more to a races preference for putting resources into actually conducting research - they will start at level 1 just like the empires do. Therefore Backwards races would actively shun research of any kind, whilst Advanced races would actively engage in research. The Supreme rating is reserved for the Empires and unique races like the Cytherians. The Vulcans and Andorians are set as Advanced for comparison.
Mike will eventually add the ability to start with advanced starts, and at this time the purpose of the levels will likely be altered so the starting points of the minors reflects the advanced starts. (So advanced races have access to tech roughly equal or slightly less than the empires) whilst backwards races will likely still be on tech 1-3 even on late tech games.
