Thinking of the Time Travel idea, I started thinking of other things like Super Weapons. What if at the beginning of the game you could choose to have super weapons in the late stages or not. If you decide not to, you play the game, conquer the galaxy and generally have a merry old time. However if you choose to play the game with super weapons, then it's a race against time to research your phasers off before the other galactic powers get their hands on Super Weapons or Super Technologies.

- Star Collapsing Missiles (Trilithium)
- Planet Population Killers (Metrion Cascade, Thaylaron Radiation)
- Temporary Black Hole Generator (Red Matter)
- Transwarp Gates
- Time Travel (Delorian)

These are just a handful of the things on the table. You could even make it that some are specific to particular galactic powers. And like I said, if you want to take your time and not run the risk of the other powers doing the same, you can opt not to include them in that particular game, just as you would choose how big the galaxy is.
