Ok, I am currently preparing data and image file update. It will have about 90% of major races in game images with at least 80% great quality ones (just a few in need of replacement) i started this a while ago (removing the images who's structures were taken out, mixing them a bit, reassigning and editing)

I've also added a Malon homeworld months ago (with the needed texture) but never uploaded it.

Thanks man, well that's all the work I managed to do before the test streak...I'll be able to continue in the coming weeks. You'll be pleased just how much the artistic part of the game is close to being finished.

Me and Captan Bahir have started working on the final "stage" if you will of it. All that is now needed is to decide on the standard (uniform the graphics) modify the existing artwork to comply to it and make the missing 10% of the art.

Excellent job Vjeko

One question, that green color spill between Africa, Arabia and India, I imagine is some kind of sun reflection, is it?

Maybe I'm wrong but sun light should be white, if you look at sun from space and not from earth you would see sun as white ball. That s why imo reflection is a slightly odd, change yellow to white for realistic reflection otherwise everything is fine.

Posted comment there under SatyreNoir...

All images fine though you could add little more of specularity if you don't aim for strict reality of physical world

I was fiddling with various shapes for Romulan TOS navy. The main problem is lack of any refernece. I did homework on Google and all I found was numerous kitbashes of BoP. So I decided to turn to FASA RPg Romulan ship's but their schematics are blurr and incorrect and moddeling FASA models ends in geometry's defiance of physics. I did few models on theme the last one was loosly based on T-2 Death Talon http://home.comcast.net/~ststcsolda/

Note: model is not finished, it's without textures, some part's like wings and engine are oversized, needs lots of details, afterall it is basic geometry with basic colors. Actually I'm interested in feedback fom ppl here if you the want something like Talon to be our Romulan Tech I Destroyer....

I'm loving it :)

Give me some time to learn how to unwrap models in some program other than ultimate unwrap 3d and I'll help you out with making the Romulan ships.

There is also an early romulan ship from the Romulan wars we could reconstruct as their Cruiser I

It looks old-school SF but with good texturing in the Romulan color scheme it would look awesome, and it's the closest thing to a canon Romulan wars era Romulan ship

Yeah, I was thinking about Okuda ship too but if Okuda ship is cruiser where we gonna place BoP?

I never saw the BoP as a cruiser more like an escort or an destroyer, cruiser should be bigger and less maneuverable and the Okuda model sort of looks like a very early warbird or a durable cruiser.

It's probably true I think BoP is only 120 m in length, so it's not cruiser, but again it falls in "bird" family I can easily imagine evolution of BoP in later Warbird.

That is true, we'll have to decide that before building the shiplist...I'm voting for okuda ship as a cruiser and BoP as a destroyer

BoP is problematic in more ways, actually tech 1 BoP should be model from ST: ENT and tech 3/4 should be from ST:TOS, the problem is that ST:ENT BoP looks more advanced then Kirk's one.

I'm fine with Okuda's ship as cruiser I though it may look wierd with those short wings.

We can use some creative freedom with them ;)

Considering BoP's - so what, the NX01 looks more advanced than Kirk's NCC1701...it's alien technology, we don't know what would have made their engineers design a ship that looks less advanced than it's predecessor in human eyes...that's the beauty of Star Trek :D

This is the reason why I was looking to left Okuda's ship out of game, that way I could easily fill two places in ship-list, so thing works like this:

1. Placing BoP as cruiser
2. Swaping position of Ent and Tos BoP
3. So Kirk's BoP is tech I= simple, white in appearance, elegant, without visible external panels, round warp exhausts, all other ship's of tech one follow appearance
4. Ent BoP as tech 4 cruiser, new warp exhausts (arrowheaded), green in appearance with masking theme , advanced paneling, soft transition towards Warbird...

That's ok, but the TOS BoP was a protype in TOS era so putting it into ENT era would be wrong while the ENT BoP was a standard ship during ENT era...it would raise quite a stir among trekkies that would play the game.

As a said, alien engineering, I have no problem believing that TOS BoP is an advanced version of the ENT one.

I think some rules are universal like first was box then was wheel, simpler form precedes more complex one, what I want to say is that ENT BoP paneling and color scheme is almost indentical to Warbird so seeing ENT: BoP as direct predecessor of Warbird is more natural to me. I think any trekkie or trekker knows that ST: ENT completely screwed series story.

I don't agree...I'm in engineering college so I'm familiar with technology trough time. For example, look at this for example:

50s typical car design

Image

90s

Image

older car is more slick, without a single rough angle, the new one, Golf is almost a square on wheels.

And we are talking about centuries of development in our game in alien culture.

The paneling is more similar to TNG, and that is a mistake, we can always modify the color scheme of it and make it look more TOS-like, of course add an orange bird to the bottom.

The key of engineering is minimization, how do I get the properties I need with minimal material, development and production cost. Complex geometry is expensive to produce (the Romulan ship from the new movie is the worst ship imagined in star trek universe)

The Borg are the perfect example of that, advanced strong ships looking like simple geometrical objects.

Vjeko, boxy or curved car it's not era or time dependent thing, it depends on car's targeted people class. Wealthy people get curved cars and poor boxed, the curvature of just few degrees on car's surface puts price of car for few thousand euros up. But that's not important now.

Yes, you are right we can change ENT:BoP to look more TOS but it's better fix obvious to place her closer to Warbid...

Actually I don't care much about that, it's more important for me to have BoP as cruiser, that way i have fine line of cruisers = BoP tech I, Bop Tech III, Warbird Tech VII... and one important thing more, this way we have some kind of continuity in shape. If tech VI destroyer is going to look like in Botf then this will be very odd tranformation from BoP tech III destroyer to Botf tech VI destroyer.

Working on the Klingon surveyor I so that we can finalize the Klingon shiplist (ENT and TOS eras complete with TNG almost done)
