Will there be some kind of upgrade system like in Starfleet Command/Master of Orion?

At least there could be more tech trees with such an option. Would also make things interessting.

And maybe some techs could be found on planets but can only be researched if certain conditions (other techs) are met.

Tech exchange maybe would also be nice.

What do you say :mrgreen: ?

If you're talking about paying for tech upgrades for your ships, then this won't be in the game. This is a feature that Supremacy's rival project, Birth of the Empires does have however. Mike has made a conscious decision not to include this feature because he wants to differentiate Supremacy from BotE.

...Supremacy might have a certain, as yet unnanounced alternative feature coming though... :mischief:

You won't be able to find technologies on planets either, but the random events system is *hopefully* going to have a major makeover compared to BOTF and include a whole host of new random events. I've written a massive list of *possible* events for inclusion into the game, although it remains to be seen how flexible Mike will allow the random events system to be; it's unlikely that every single last event will make it into the game in their current form. But you can check out the randoms that i've written so far Here. Some of the randoms include things like the Discovery of Data, Discovery of a Dyson Sphere, Influx of Scientists, and so on, so in a convoluted way, it will be in.

Tech exchanges...that really depends on how diplomacy goes. We definitely want to expand the diplomacy system, but how exactly Mike will do this I don't know. There's certainly no harm in asking for it though. :)

So does that mean you read it? Wow not many people do. You probably noticed that the randoms are incomplete then. I do plan to finish them, but only once I know more about how/what Mike plans to include in the random events system. I've actually got a small list of new random events that I need to add to that list... 8O

The randoms I need to add are:

Religious Holiday
Complete loss of production in a random system for one turn, +1 morale in system.

Atmospheric Disturbance
A random planet becomes uninhabitable.

Unstable Orbit
The population growth and/or food production of a random system randomly fluctuates.

You actually only need to make two images, Val - we already have one for the religious holiday one. I'm not going to say why we have this particular image though, you'll just have to wait and see... :mischief:

there are some realy nice ideas in your list, but 120 turns sounds a bit severe , in the Nexus one. posibly 60 might be a bit more do-able.

The random events system will be pretty flexible. It will certainly be possible to create events that, for example, simulate the discovery of alien artifacts to give the discoverer some extra research points.
