Well that is very interesting. I especially like the fact that it will have negative as well as positive effect on the outcome of a situation. Will you be able to name your operative(s)? This would be preferable of course.

Yes, I think that will be a necessity. However, some of your personnel will be well-known figures from Trek canon, so you probably won't want to rename those :).

...

Then again, I suppose you might want to rename Kirk to "Captain Dickweed" and Picard to "Ambassador Awesome".

Death may only be metered out by an approved forum admin. Which just happens to include ME.

There's no date set yet. We've been saying until recently that we would be releasing the update in August, but in the last three or four days Mike has been making more than a few important changes to the interface. These changes both make the game easier to use, and make it look better. The changes also impact how any future combat system will be implemented, and are allowing us to test whether the models we have so far will actually work ingame - and that they actually look good enough to use in the first place.

So the release date has slipped a little, but it's for very good reasons, I assure you. Only Mike knows when the game is ready and we will announce it when the time comes.

I know there is a delay with my post and this topic, but since im new, the info is new :D

Why not take the random event (Ion Storm 1) and have it shut down any building that requires energy for use for say 5-10 turns. Random event, affects the sectors but not permanently, and adds a hickup in the game that causes a minor disruption to plans of the player.

Just a thought.

We haven't done anything with the random events in terms of putting them in the game yet. Mike did say once that he planned to create an editor specifically for the randoms, but he hasn't mentioned it since.

We've had much more pressing things to work on lately, so I honestly don't know when we're going to start working on the randoms. As they stand, they are still conjectural, so we won't know for sure what can actually be done until we can actually try. When that time comes, we can start making the changes that are necessary.
