Birth of the Empires (BotE)
BotE is a a game being developed by a group of Germans, led by SirPustekuchen. SirPustekuchen started his project completely separate from us in 2004, and his project went public in 2006. We became aware of each other shortly after and are now supporting each other and helping translate BotE into English for them. These forums are also hosting their downloads and providing graphics etc. where needed.

BotE is a downloadable game that was originally intended as a spiritual successor to BotF - recent fears over legalities has meant that the Trek content is in the process of being removed, however. The game will now feature new content to avoid these legal issues.

A Trek mod may still be made one day in the future. This community will support any decision that the BotE team come to. Any flames or "retribution" for the removal of the Trek content from BotE will not be tolerated. Sadly, we've already had to take measures against a few forum members with regard to this, but we will not hesitate to do so again. The BotE developers are working just as hard as the teams that are working on Supremacy, Allegiance, and New Beginnings, and I can honestly say from first-hand experience that the new content is just as intriguing as the "original" version of BotE.


Features of the current 0.62 alpha build:

* Up to 4 (will be 6 in the final version) playable races and 142 so-called "minor" races
* Relatively large 30x20-sector 2D galaxy map with one sector representing 20 lightyears in diameter
* TCP/IP LAN and internet multiplayer and singleplayer
* AI with scalable difficulty levels, also with non-cheating level
* Ship battles and invasions (no visualization yet which is in progress, see media section here on-site)
* Complete empire management like planetary build-ups and resource trading
* Diplomatic actions such as alliances, war pacts, trade agreements and bribing with all occuring species in-game
** Runs on Linux using WINE and Win2k, XP and Vista
