BotE is a a game being developed by a group of Germans, led by SirPustekuchen. SirPustekuchen started his project completely separate from us in 2004, and his project went public in 2006. We became aware of each other shortly after and are now supporting each other and helping translate BotE into English for them. These forums are also hosting their downloads and providing graphics etc. where needed.

BotE is a game that was originally intended as a spiritual successor to BotF - fears over legalities meant that no Trek content is in the game, however. The game features a self-made content (with help from various artists all over the web who allowed us to use their personal artwork for the game) to avoid these legal issues.

A Trek mod may still be made one day in the future. This community will support any decision that the BotE team come to.


Features of the current 0.8 alpha build:

* Up to 5 (will be 6 in the final version) playable races and 142 so-called "minor" races, the latter finally building their own ships and defending themselves
* Relatively large 30x20-sector 2D galaxy map with one sector representing 20 lightyears in diameter
* TCP/IP LAN and internet multiplayer and singleplayer
* AI with scalable difficulty levels, also with non-cheating level
* Ship battles with detailed pre-battle tactical options and planetary invasions (no 3D visualization yet which is in progress, see media section here on-site)
* Complete empire management like planetary build-ups and resource trading
* Diplomatic actions such as alliances, war pacts, trade agreements and bribing with all occuring species in-game
* Space anomalies
* Variety of Winning conditions like Victory by Conquest, Ship combat, Diplomacy, Sabotage, Total Elimination and Research
* Tooltips at various locations in-game to explain ship strengths and other issues you might have trouble figuring out
** Runs on Linux using WINE (problems have occured recently with galaxy map display though) and Win2k, XP, Vista and Win7
