Post subject:  Alpha 5 (german) release
Hi to all,

yesterday we released our new Alpha 5 version of Birth of the Empires, the German one at first, but the English one won't be long I promise. Head over to the main portal site here to the download section to grab it and explore the new stuff we implemented in the game. What's more, we sought permission for everything included in this release and so it is free to distribute around under the terms of its license of course. Also, it has gotten open-source so with a little understanding of C++ you can see and modify whatever you want at code level. http://bote.codeplex.com is the repository where you can download the code.

A new set of screenshots will arrive as soon as the german version is translated into english!

section updated!

a few UI issues have been resolved, foremost scrollbars on galaxy map which can be switched on and off in bote.ini file. When switched off, pressing down mouse wheel to scroll will not work. However in a future version pressing left mouse buttons down and dragging mouse will replace this behavior. enjoy!

Is it still about a week to wait for the english Alpha 5.1 Ver. download? Been trying to play with the updated english files but there is still a lot of embedded german which confuses me.

95% sure it is next week. Only if testing shows another major bug we'll fix that first but I played a match and everything's fine so there shouldn't be a reason for a delay. The only thing german in the new english release should be Terra system and planet names (Earth will be called Erde, Mercury Merkur and so on).
