I just downloaded the latest update and the game now refuses to run at all. I've attached the error.txt file.

You might try deleting all Supremacy files and reinstalling a fresh download with updates.
MOE may have some better ideas but that is the best I can do.

Hrmm, I guess that is a possible solution. I'll wait for a few other opinions though before I go through with it.

Hmm...your error message mentions not being able to load the avalon library. Whilst i'm certainly no expert on the meaning of the error messages, the only time i've personally noticed errors mentioning this is when there's a problem with .Net. The Avalon library is apparently also something to do with the way the game controls the interface, so it's also possible you've got a corrupted download, as Kenneth said - try redownloading it to a different folder first, then allow it to perform an update.
If it still doesn't work, it might be a problem with .Net. I can't understand why an old version of the game would work whilst a new version would need a .Net update when Mike hasn't announced that people need to perform such an update, though.
I do know that Micro$oft released two .Net-related updates this week, because I installed them on my computer yesterday. Have you run Windows Update lately? Try running that.
You also need to make sure you've got the correct version of .Net installed. I know that version 4.0 was opened for beta testing a month or two ago, but for the time being, Supremacy requires Try uninstalling .Net, restart your computer, then reinstall THIS version of .Net. (It already contains the incremental updates, so it includes ALL previous versions of .Net - you don't need to install version 1, then version 2, and so on)
If your problem still happens, let me know and i'll see if Mike knows what the cause of the problem is.
