Hi
I've downloaded the game, and everytime I start up a new game, it crashes while it tries to generate the galaxy. I can select size of galaxy etc, but after that it crashes.
It downloaded the latest 13MB patch, but still crashes.
I've attached the error.txt file and my dxdiag file.

I'm not sure what else I could try to make it work?

You need to install the .NET Framework v3.5 SP1 Beta. Please go to the pre-release download thread and read the section entitled "What you need to run Supremacy." It's the section with the big, flashing arrows pointing to it.

If it only was possible to have some automatism do that for the average user, something a bit like the auto-updater..

Or at least if the game could check your version of .Net and bring up a notification that you need to update the version. There doesn't necessarily need to be a download link - it's given in the download thread and links are likely to change over time anyways - but as long as people are prompted that they need to download the update it should reduce the number of of error reports we're getting on here.

That's strange, as I was all up-to-date with .net
I do have 3.5 installed, hence why I thought there should be no problems (I wish MS :borg: had a really easy way to see what version of .net you have installed, like you can with DirectX).
But on running the 3.5 installer again, its now downloading more stuff! 8O

amphigory, the latest version of .Net is 3.5 Service Pack 1 Beta - 3.5 SP1 Beta is yet another update to the .Net platform. The previous version of Supremacy required 3.5, while the latest version of Supremacy requires 3.5 Service Pack 1 Beta.

.Net doesn't have an auto-updater like Supremacy does. When you download an update, you're only downloading the updated Supremacy files. If there are any new download requirements, we will always post about these in the very first post of the Supremacy Pre-release Download thread - by keeping the info in the exact same place, it is easier for people to find it, rather than making them sift through a million pages of unrelated thread. Unfortunately people just don't seem to be getting that message even hough we made it as obvious as we can. :(
