Its great game but the latest update the turn process hangs on planetary production. It seems to happen after you start making colonies and gaining member race systems.

This looks like a fairly old post...but I am new to it and this doesn't seem to be resolved. It seems to be random, but it always hangs at "calculating planetary production" and will only release with a three fingered salute.

I've just checked and this happened to me too - but only on the first game I played. I played three more times and the game was fine. We do know that the game suffers from a random turn processing freeze bug, so it is entirely possible this is just another example of it. It's strange that the freeze happened after the same chain of events and in the same place on three separate computers though. Have you been able to get the bug to occur again, guys?
I'll give Mike a nudge about the potential new bug anyway. It doesn't hurt to check these things out.

it happens every time in click on the turn button in every game whether new or saved. The turn processing hangs on the planetary production when you make colonies or add member race systems and begin to develop them by adding buildings and upgrading them

You have saved games where this happens? Could you attach your .sav files in a post? They may help Mike to track down the cause if it is a repeatable problem.

This has been happening to me too, and I've played the game just recently. It seems to happen randomly, I haven't been able to pinpoint what may be causing this.

We still haven't been able to figure out the cause of the random freeze, and as i said in reply to your other post, Stromgarde, Mike is currently away at a big works conference thingy. I think he's in Shanghai at the moment. Anyways, it means he can't work on programming the game until he gets back, which will be some time in December. Fixing this bug is definitely a priority for him though, as it appears to be affecting most people at some point during their games. In some respects it is lucky it is rare. It does however mean that it is much more difficult to trace the cause.
The best thing to do is to save your game as regularly as possible - just like with BOTF actually. If the game freezes on the turn after (Or close to) a save, please try reloading it and see if the game freezes again. If it does, attach it to a post in this thread or in the Supremacy Pre-release download thread. Mike will definitely be interested in the contents of those files.

Thanks for the reply, Matress.
Perhaps this is a bit out off topic, but still very much relevant. Considering how much work is involved in making the game playable with all the different races (Klingon, Rom, Dominion, etc.), would it not have been wiser to first complete the game with all its elements featuring only Fed as the playable faction, and then to release the game, and after that to add the others? Just a thought...I could be wrong, perhaps adding the other playable races is not that much more work after all.
Either way, thank you guys for all the effort. I'll try to provide feedback whenever I can, unless I'm hopelessly overwhelmed with lab work.
Cheers!

In some respects, that IS what we've done. Only the Federation are currently playable (Except in multiplayer for obvious reasons), and the standard game database only really has Federation-specific structures. The building sets for the other Empires is rather limited, making multiplayer a one-sided affair. I'm implementing the structures of the other Empires as i'm doing the database updates (Which is why it's taken me soo long to do), but the other races still won't be playable (Except in multiplayer) until Mike actually implements the Empire selection screen. At least my updates make multiplayer more playable though. With any luck, it'll get more people attempting multiplayer, so people will better test how well the system works. (Or doesn't work )
