Similar to the problem I once experienced with Botf, with Supremacy after around turn 200 or so the game seems to slow down to a crawl and I'm unable to do anything for a period of time. (accessing menus, clicking buttons, the planets even stop spinning) The PC is fairly new, only about a year and a half old running 32 bit Vista.

As i'm sure you can appreciate, the game isn't complete yet; there may be some memory leaks in there, and it certainly hasn't been optimised yet. But the game also has to track a LOT more information than BOTF ever did, so there will inevitably be a slow down. The game will also likely have to track even more information by the time the game is complete, so if anything it might get worse. :(

For that reason, we recommend people ONLY play on tiny and small maps. Just in case it is a potential memory leak though, i'd recommend you save and reload the game if you plan on playing for more than a few hundred turns. That might clear some of the memory load and speed the game up.

lol, and here I am playing on huge for 250+ turns. :D I remembered the save, quit, reload trick from Botf and it works for a bit and then slows down again. I'm sure it'll get fixed in time, just wanted someone to know it was happening.

I wasn't aware this was happening. Any chance you can post one of your saved games? The only real processing happens when you finish a turn; the client should not become unresponsive or slow to respond during normal gameplay. I'll definitely want to look into this. It sounds like there may be some rogue threads or something.

I just recently started a huge undertaking to refactor the game client, so even if I find the issue, it will probably be several weeks before I release an update with a fix.
