Ok, there's some bias involved in these observations, but I find ship stats to be really weird. Now, pretend I know nothing about ST, and I start playing this game. Taking the Federation as an example:
First thing I notice is that a Scout not only is the most expensive ship (explained partly by the Cloaking ability), but it has better stats than the rest of the warships. And more crew. Hmm? What is it, a large, heavily armored scout?! Doesn't that kinda trump the definition of a scout?
A Frigate is more expensive than a Cruiser (double cost actually), and except for the extended scanner range, the few other advantages are residual at best? It even packs less weapons.
I don't know how combat will be handled, how the whole system will be handled. But the Shield/Hull values seem a bit arbitrary? Civilian ships = 90/60, military ships ~160/80. Isn't that a bit odd? Attack values (if that's what they are) are very similar too, even though weapon loadouts are different.
Anyways, just trying to figure it out.

BTW, the Cruiser I's description (Enterprise) and its weapons descriptions in the stats screen don't match.

I've said this loads of times to you now .Iceman, but you don't seem to have listened: the ship stats are gonna be overhauled soon!

DON'T take the current ingame stats to mean anything. If you want to make comments on the ship stats, check out the Ship Stats Database. I will be implementing the stats of the database into the game.

Sorry. Notice these are *blatant* things, I haven't touched any details. I thought at this point these things would be more or less well defined. Not final, but ready for tweaks only, not overhauls. Somehow I thought that was what you had told me (values needing tweaks), but now I see I was wrong. Sorry about that.
I'm reading the stuff in Dafedz's site, but it's a lot of stuff, and I don't really know if it's implemented exactly like that, or at all, or even partially. It's kinda hard figuring it out.

Sorry if I sounded critical, that was not the intention. I was just trying to convey what I felt a couple of days ago when I looked closer at the ships. I guess I was trying to figure if there was something I was missing, to justify those values.

Actually, at least the level zero ships are almost exactly unchanged according to Dafedz's stats. The only changes I see are the Cruiser I's shield/armor increased by 10/10, the Colony Ship I's Pop Health gone, and the Frigate I's Pop Health increased to 2%. Everything else is exactly the same. So I'm kind of at a loss with this reply. Anyways, I was just posting my thoughts on the subject.

Ok, i'll implement the stats as they current stand, but i'll notify Dafedz about your concerns and see what he says. I won't be able to do much about changes for a few days tho as i'm having some electrical problems with my computer, so i'll be taking it to PC World later today.

...Don't worry though, i'm running PNGGauntlet as I type this to squeeze down the image update and then i'll be zipping and sending it to Mike, so the update with all your fixes in it will be out in the wild before long.

I'll still be online through my Wii, so i'll still be able to reply to PM's and posts as normal.

Cardassian ships
Colony Ship I and Destroyer I don't cost Dilithium?
Scout I has Build Cost zero, and no maintenance.
Most ships don't seem to have Population Health.

Most of the missing stats (Such as population health) were added after the ships were, which is why those stats are missing. Don't worry, i'll fix these problems as soon as I get my computer back...and fix all the problems you've mentioned with the buildings. The ships aren't really a priority for me at the moment because the combat system and AI haven't yet been implemented into the game - ships therefore don't really have much use yet. The buildings have though which is why they're getting my full attention.
