Hey vjeko, welcome to the forums! The editor is designed so you can change stats and stuff, but you need to use it - and save your changes - before you load up the game. Don't use it whilst playing a game. And don't make changes and then attempt to use a previously saved game either. Also, if you make changes, the auto-updater will incorrectly identify your files as being "out of date" and will attempt to "update" them by overwriting your updates with the original files. You'll will therefore have to stop the game updating if you decide to mod the game. We'll announce whenever a "real" update is available on the forums though. You'll unfortunately just have to reimplement your mods when this happens though. What changes exactly are you trying to make anyways? The ships are not currently fully implemented, and i'm personally working on an overhaul of all of their stats, build costs, upgrade paths etc. There's over 400 ships that I need to go through or add though, so it's gonna take me quite a while. |

I wanted to add the Jupiter class starship as a Light escort, but before that I added The Novans as a minor race, but every time I open the editor and at the end I save changes even though I didn't made any changes the number of turns to build my ships is gone, and I have to copy the techtree file (both of them) from before I made the changes, and it works. And I used the notepad to load a lot of pictures to various buildings, and I added some new ones. |

Thats odd...but I do know of a bug that might be the cause of your problems. When you first create a ship or structure object in the editor, give it an object name, eg. NOVAN_JUPITER_CLASS, but then just type anything into the name box - the editor will NOT save anything in the name box until you close the editor, save your changes, and reload it. The newly created object will then show up as a blank line at the top fo the building or ship lists on the right of the screen, depending on what type of object you created. Double-click that blank line, then give the object a name. The name will now be saved when you close the editor. (If you choose to save it) This bug also affects the object description, and, if you created a ship, the names of any weapons you give the ship. Tell you what, i'll add the Novans and Jupiter class as objects for you. You'll need to go in and actually give them stats and stuff though. Check your PM's. |
