I've been playing the new update for a couple days and I gotta say, overall, I'm rather pleased with the progress. I can finally upgrade past type 2 Fab. plant! I've only noticed a few things wrong, one of which is the shipyard upgrade problem. I haven't tested the file Mike posted yet though. Anyways, I've got a couple problems that haven't been posted (that I could see anyways...). First, the music. The game doesn't seem to remember my volume choice. You've got some great music for the game, don't get me wrong, but I'd rather listen to rock. I turned the music off, but every time I start the game it's on again. I go into options and it's still set at 0%. I click the slider once and it turns off though. Definitely not a major bug, but it's kinda annoying. The other bug I've found is the updater itself. It keeps trying to download the latest update even though I have it. I run the updater and it downloads a 7.7 Mb update. The game restarts and it wants to download it again. Again, not major but annoying. BTW, the random crash bug is a lot less frequent with the new update. I've only had it twice in over 300 turns. You might not have squashed it yet, but you certainly ripped it a new... |

Can you try doing a clean unzip of the September 2008 release, overwriting your HttpDownloader.dll with this one and running the big update again? That should stop the repeat-update problem. Also, can you start posting your error logs when you have a random crash? Thanks! |

Someone else posted about the never-ending-update problem Mike; emptying their UAB folder solved the problem. sny, if Mike's files doesn't solve your problem, click on "Start", then click on "Run". Type "%temp%/UAB" (Without the quote marks) into the box, then press enter. A folder called UAB will appear. If there are any files or folders in the UAB folder, delete them, then, if it asks you to download an update, let it. That *should* be the last time it needs to do it. |

Error.txt is completely blank, as in 0kb. The only logs that have anything in them are log.txt and updaterlog.txt. I'll post those now, though I'm not sure they're gonna help much. I also forgot something else I found. The habitation project doesn't function properly. It raises the max population like it should but the total population never rises above it's previous max. For example, I built one in Sol which had a max pop of 255 and it raised it to 293. 20 turns later the population there was still 255. Oh, the file to fix the shipyards works, at least for Mark II. I haven't gotten far enough to see if the Mark III works though, and it'll be awhile since I have to reinstall and start over... Edit: Almost forgot, the shipyard file-fix doesn't fix saved games, it only works if you start a new game.

Than i run the update for the act. .netFrame on Microsoft UpdatePage (following your links). After that i run the SupremancyClient.exe. First time i aborded the autoUpdate and run a SP game...that works,so long so good. Monty> Try downloading it again from here: http://www.startreksupremacy.com/download.html Once you download and un-zip that copy the HttpDownloader.dll file mstrobel posted in this thread into the main directory. Load the game and there should be a rather large update to download. (It was 48.7Mb for me) Once you've done all that the game should run fine. That fixed the updater issue for me, thanks Mike! I got some other stuff to do today and it's gonna take me awhile to re-test my other issues. I'll post again sometime tomorrow with what I find. Oh, and if the game actually generates an error log I'll be sure to post that too. Were the log.txt and updaterlog.txt files helpful? If so I'll post those too... or any other file you feel may be pertinent, just let me know. |

Ok, so my random crash wasn't so random. I can't remember the conditions of the first crash but the second and third both happened on turns where I received a reply to a membership treaty. I did get an error report this time, and probably the first 2 times too. I didn't realize the game wipes the error log if you start the program again... That's about all there is to report. The shipyard and updater issues are resolved thanks to the files provided here. The audio preferences and habitation project issues still persist. (Wasn't really expecting those to go away just yet...)

So I downloaded the newest version and it autoupdated. Now every time I load Supremacy client it automatically goes straight to send error report. I'm wondering if something got messed up in the update. Over on the music forum I made a comment that some of the original music was all that was in the game. What I meant was kenneth's original three tracks are all that are in the music folder. This leads me to believe it didn't update since he replied that there was more music added. Any ideas on a solution or should i just go the uninstall reinstall route? Thanks |

Hey Titan, I just posted an update to the known problems thread. The update is possibly a fix for the problem you're encountering. The fix is actually for another problem, but the seems to work for several related problems. If it doesn't work though, delete the game and download it from scratch. Just so you know, there should be four music tracks in your music folder - the original three in .ogg format, and the fourth should be an .mp3. Quote:
