Post subject: | Problem loading saved game files |
Hi, First of all, I would like to compliment the work and attention put in the game. It really looks and plays great! However, I am having an issue with loading saved game files. Especially the larger ones. The thing is that I can load saved game files of games that were saved at lower turn numbers (e.g. game turn 1 to 120). But when I try to load save game files made at larger turn numbers, the game says that it is loading but then returns to the main menu. This has happened with three started games already, so it isn't an anomaly. When I check the error log it is empty. Do you know how I may correct this problem, because this is really a kill joy when playing a game. I thank you in advance for answering my question. Greetings, Mark S. |

Hi Mark, welcome to the forums! There is only one bug that I am aware of relating to saved games, and that is save files created before a game update will become incompatible with the game after the update, because by the nature of the update the game files have changed, resulting in incompatibilities. So I first have to ask - is the saved game you are trying to load from a copy of the game before it performed an update? If so, then i'm afraid there is nothing we can do about this - you'll just have to cut your losses and start again. If not though, then this is a genuine, but previously unreported, bug. If this is the case, could you please attach the save file in question to a post so that Mike (The developer) can have a look at it and see what the cause of the problem is? The file attachment box is located underneath where you type a post. Just select the file you want then click the add the file button. A new window will then open whilst the upload completes. You *might* need to kill your popup blocker to allow the upload to commence. |

Thanks for the quick response! Unfortunately it is not an update related phenomena, as save game files become 'unloadable' even when the game isn't updated (I've disabled the update notification). As requested I will attach all of the save game files that show this problem. Hope it will help to figure out what is going on. Greetings, Mark S.

Hey Yorev, thanks for the info. The Romulan-specific issues are simply because their database entries are incomplete at the moment; i'm waiting to get my hands on a working version of the game editor so I can get on fixing these issues. For the moment, the Cardassians are the ONLY race with a fully-working fleet. The Federation is about 50% done and the other empires are even less complete, which is why there are problems like these. I'm not sure what you mean about "on global matter probably yet posted" though. Could you explain what you meant? I'll write Mike a PM with a link to this thread. As he's swamped with his work though it may be weeks, even months, before he can respond. Fingers crossed it won't take that long though. |
