Hi! Is it possible to scrap old ships when I don't need them anymore? I couldn't find how to do it and my old ships aren't able to go as far as the new upgraded ones. I'm starting to have lots of ships that are useless.
Thank you for your answer.

Yep, it will be possible in the future. Surplus Depots (a building) will allow you to scrap ships, and get some of the materials back; it will also allow you to mothball ships (a finite amount though), so that you pay less maintenance but can reactivate them at any time.
I think shipyards and fleetyards will also allow you to scrap ships.
Oh, and black holes too  you just don't get the materials back. Heh.

Ahh! I see. Thanks! :winkthumb:
And I forgot to ask this one. Is it or will it be possible to upgrade old ships to the new level, for a price naturally? Or do I, will I have to scrap them as soon as they become obsolete?
Sorry that I write this in a new message.

Nope, the plan currently is to have no upgrades. When "upgrading", ships will efefctively be scrapped, and the upgrade is built in its place. Some resources from the old design are used for the new design's construction, and it's still on hold what happens to the crew (regarding experience, since Personnel will be ditched in the next version of the game - and be replaced with Leaders).
Real upgrades are not out of the question though. They may be implemented in the future, if Mike finds the time to. Right now, there are more important things.
