Interpid is what it sounds like when you have a cold. Hope you both are all better.

Don't worry. I beat Q and got rid of his stupid cold. I'm all better and ready to work again.

Damn, sounds like it was man flu...definitely the work of Q. There is no known disease that is worse. But you survived and have now come back stronger. Q shall regret what he did to you.

Well guys I've pretty much given up on STO - for now. It's failed to hold my attention more than about 2 weeks. (and I'm not one to give up quickly, I play LOTRO and have for 3 years now, and in comparison to this MMO it is a million million miles away in every respect).
It's was great fun at first, but it's become repetative and boring, and logging on was becoming a chore. And it's not just because many things are broken, or don't work as intended, its the content and the quality/diversity of that content that is the problem: it's so thin and bare-bones its almost unbelievable.
I could put up with many of these flaws; such as 'Oh i can't visit any other place on my ship then the bridge,' or 'this huge starbase has only one level i can explore,' or 'why is there a metagenic particle anamoly floating in the air, three feet from this admiral's desk?' Or that ground combat is clunkly and sometimes unplayable, and navigating from system to system, sector to sector is not only difficult at times but tedious, or even that crafting is an utter joke, and don't even get me started on the mission dialogues!
The key elements are what really count, and for me its the biggest let down. Eg. exploration. Exploration doesn't really exist. There is also no discovery, no sense of 'space', and no sense of EPIC!!!
En masse instancing (one server for the whole world) is just hideous. Every sector is so crowded, and chat so full of spam and drivel, that it proved to be the final straw for me.
In game play thus far all we've had to do is 'destroy this squadron', 'scan this artifact', 'beam down to this station (that looks identical to the one I visited an hour ago), and shoot these aliens that are standing around in a corridor scratching their ass, or wandering aimlessly in circles' and... that's about it.
Unless I'm very bored and want to play 'space battle', ie fly a ship round in circles mindlessly destroying npcs, then I doubt I'll be back - unless of course they radically and profoundly improve what is a very disppointing game.

I'd agree with everything you said here...except I defeated the Crystalline Entity so i'm on a high right now and cannot possibly hear any criticisms for the game at this moment in time. I'll probably agree with you in the morning though. Can't wait for the first expansion pack.

Aha! What I said is coming true..... STO WAS mind-controlling... but I see that some people are finally breaking free of it's mind control. Good good. I really have no idea what is going on right now in STO, but I'm glad some people are beginning to see the repetition and monotony in the game that I saw during the beta test phase. As always, I will remain STO-addiction-free, and will continue to devote my time to writing random events for Supremacy (I hope to be able to finish them for the Vegas convention in August)..... Well, back to work......

Captain Andrew wrote: Aha! What I said is coming true..... STO WAS mind-controlling... It was to begin with - because it had the gloss of Star Trek over it. However upon pealing aside that gloss to see what lies beneath, I found there was very little 'substance' in evidence. They should have made us devs for this game! With our experience, Trek knowledge, and aptitude for what is appealing to trekkers and gamers alike, I guarantee that with Cryptic's resources we could have developed a far, far superior product.

Or the project would have hung indefinitely in development limbo while we revisited earlier design decisions. Remember that nobody here has actually released a completed game yet.

Well if we were a paid team working on this 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, I'm sure that we would be making expansion pack by now.

I ran into Matress's girlfriend the other day. Took a picture and thought you'd like to see her. Attachment:

It's incredible what I just learned coming from Cryptic about STO!! Cryptic uses an automatic translation software for translation into French and German. I understand why the French community complains about the quality of texts.

Since i bought the lifetime sub even tho its cost me more than i thought it was. I was wondering about getting the fleet back together and teaming up for missions which is a must for some missions like Assimilation as its a 5 man min mission when we get to the rear admiral upper half.
Atm im caption 10 soon to be RA Lowerhalf so i wont be too far behind.

I never did manage to do some of the high-end missions. It's a nightmare arranging a team for some of the missions and i've been abandoned by teams more than a few times. In the end I just gave up on trying them. I've barely played since.

Woah...Spacedock and Club 47 have changed a lot since I last played. I'm glad they've changed Spacedock back to the movie models. The one that had previously was just wrong, even if it was cool. And the moon is there! And what's with Manoeuvring thrusters only? Ship movement was always too slow for my liking lol. Speed! More speed!
