160 years before Kirk's birth puts the movie around 2076. The only stuff going on at that time are some colony ships leaving and the post atomic horror. So it could easly have to do with how Earth became united and stabilised.

I would like to see the romulan - earth war as in the begining middle and end of the war in sorta time periods to fit the war in one film, or possibly a trilogy, or a klingon - earth war that was supose to be bloddy due to first contact bu as Enterprise has re-wrote st histroy so that it doesnt start a war due to the disasterous first contact incident which i thought would have been a space battle that triggers the war.

Or how about a crazy idea like the klingon war against the tribbles the suposably greatest war and threat to the klingons in their histroy lol.

I supose a cardassian -fed war that was supose to have happened could be cool.

Any other wars i havent listed here u can think of? Btw i havent read the threat just posted this as is.

Ok guys, I thought I might be able to set a few things straight, after reading an article about the 'ultimate' (should have read the crappiest) tribute to Star Trek in the newest TV Guide. In the article it talks about the new movie, and has a few quotes from Berman (worst producer ever [done in my best Comic Book Guy voice, from the Simpsons]). Heres what it says. The movie reporitedly centers around an epic space event that occurs after Enterprise, but before the original ST. (It will have no known cast members in it). Berman says, "I'm supprised the studio went public with it so quickly. All we did was sign a writer. The film is only in the very early stages of development. It has not even been green-lit yet. It might happen, it might not." The writer he mentions is Erik Jenderesen (HBO's Band of Brothers). Band of Brothers was a WWII mini series folowing 'Easy Company', a group of American soldiers who landed on D Day, and eventuall fought all the way to Berlin. It was a great series based off the real events that happened to this company, and the fact that the guy who wrote that series is doing the next movie gives me hope for a big ST war movie.

A few other tidbits from this article that makes me hate Berman even more.
1. He believed ST Generations was the epitome of all the ST movies. (I hate Generations).
2. He 'blames' the downfall of ST on the fact that Nemesis did not draw out TNG crowd, like he hoped. Yes Berman, its all the fans fault, and not the fact that you make movies with horrible plots.

Ok, as long as I'm ranting, anyone want to hear the horrible idea that is going to be the final episode of Enterprise? (I promise I wont spoil too much, for those out there who want to watch it). The episode is going to be set 6 years ahead into the future from the prior episode of Ent. It is going to focus on the signing of the Fed charter (sounds fine so far, right?). Butguess who's going to be making a guest apperance in that episode? Jon Frakes, and Marina Sirits, but they arent going to be doing a guest appearnace as other characters, no, they will be playing Riker and Troi!  I wont go into any more detail, but suffice it to say, the other details arent any better. To get my point across, heres what Jolene Blalock has to say concerning the final episode. She calls the storyline, "unbelievable", "appaling", and "a reminder of why we are being cancelled."

Sorry for the rant guys, but when I get started, its hard to stop.

Well if the actors themselves think it is appalling, then what hope do they think they have?

While Enterprise was fine in itself, the writers have turned their backs on canon too much - they've basically wrecked it.

I thought calling Enterprise 'Star Trek: Enterprise' was the last straw, but if they're really gonna have that as the final episode, then they really have lost the plot. (In more ways than one)

Please wait, before saying this sux.. They said the same about the idea behind Enterprise, and it didn't sucked really. It was really cool to watch. It may be a great final, and perhaps it's not... but we just have to wait and see. Already speculation that it all is scrap is just sad. I know that the quality of the stories went a bit backwards, but we also had stupid stories on TNG, and don't let me start with the orginal series.

I just think that StarTrek fans speculate to much, i mean the new "old" trilogy of starwars (1,2,3), the first two weren't really superb, they were okey, but lines of fans still keep streaming to get their glimps of movie 3. StarTrek fans get a few okey movies and stories, and they immediatly say, well guess the next one will suck also... so they stop watching or watch once a month when they see it on tv.

I just hope that Enterprise will receive a good ending, and when it doesn't i will just wait for the next movie. You can't always expect to get the best.

But we can still want it!

At least the save Enterprise groups are doing fine. I heard a while ago that they had raised $5m! It's probably more by now, but that's a good way toward the $40m that they need.

In it's own right, Enterprise was good. There isn't any disputing that. (Apart from some of the early episodes)

The problems start when people try to factor it into the Trek timeline. The real problem is that the writers could have done with a bit more research before they started writing, or at least did a bit of treknology research. (Like the time Enterprise fired it's phase canons at whilst at warp)  (Can't remember the episode itself though)

All in all though, if you look beyond these surface limitations, Enterprise is a good show. We trekkies (Or at least some of them) are a bit too obsessed, that's all. :D

I hope to see more of Enterprise, and some of it is very good. You're right, though, they take far, far, FAR too many liberties with timetravel, mixing of eras, and stuff like that. The Ferengi? the BORG??? come ON. It's like Voyager Season 23!

sorry to Voyager fans, I liked it a lot for a while. Sadly, the 'B&B' crap just kept getting worse, and a lot of it, IMHO, carried over to Enterprise.

What really ticks me off about all this is that these are people who should really know Trek!!!!

Do they even bother to watch what they helped create, before single (okay, double) handidly destroying it???????

Sorry.

Ranting over, for now.... I really do hope the show ends well, or better yet, continues (only if it's good, though--the structural integrity of the franchise is already critically damaged, and one more hit and it could be all over).

Like you say, critical damage...only time will tell if Trek 11 is a friendly repair vessel, or another Borg vessel!
