In Ent there was dr noning sung (sp). He was in his 40's or 50's there. Now if we are to take trek at the timeline then ent is before kirk by a good margin (100 years) i think and Dr dong died in tng as an old man. Now tell me this, how did he live for a few hundreads years (200 or more) till tng era?

The only explaination i can think of is that with the new found genetic enginerring skills he shows in ent rather than the famous scientist in robotics as we knew him from in tng era that he must have performed genetic engineering on himself to make him last that long but the only thing i dont understand is that in order to be genetically engineered you must do it on embro's and you cant do it on full sized and grown lifeforms. Now there is a instance which doc bashire in ds9 had some done when he was a child but i dont really get that episode explantion sorta for genetics.

Ah well lets see what others here have to say with this paradox sorta for Dr sung or however u spell his name lol.

The episode was on Channel4 this afternoon, and at the very end, Noonien says himself that to be able to complete an artificial lifeform, his work would "Have to be completed by the next generation, possibly the second."

So I guess that confirms what Iwulff just said.

i haven't seen that episode (must be 3rd or 4th season), so don't take my word for anything i say.
but, by reading what u posted, i have 2 theories:
1- he gets genetically engineered to live for 200 years or so, because the knowledge of that time allows him to...
2- or, much more likely, TNG's Dr. Soong is his grandson, or great grandson, or whatever he is...:P

How is Dr. Soong from Ent Data's dad? He isn't. This is Dr Arik Soong. Like Iwulff suggested Dr. Noonien Soong is most likely his grandson or great grandson.

So there all called dr noonion sung or whatever it spelled like lol. Perosnally since he is the brainy one i think that is the one and only dr sung, datas dad. Using genetics or some cryogenics to live that long. Im sure hes Noonien, not arik or whatever someone said.

Im tired so try to understand my bad writing here lol... z....z...zzzzz....

Picked this up from Memory Alpha http://www.memory-alpha.org

Comments by production staff (and the casting of Brent Spiner) indicated that Arik Soong was intended to be the great-grandfather of Noonien Soong, Data's creator. This is supported by Arik Soong's comment about cybernetics, when he said that developing an artificial life form "might take a generation or two." However, it is probably worth noting that in his appearances on Enterprise, there was no indication that Arik Soong had any biological children. However, given the character's expertise in genetics and his portrayal by Brent Spiner, cloning himself wouldn't be beyond his technological capability. It would also be consistent with his arrogance toward human perfection.

I don't know how you came to the name "Noonien Soong", Skeeter. (and dammit, learn to spell those names right, already! :P) That name was never mentioned in the entire episode! As EnterpriseNX_01 stated, this man was called "Arik Soong" and was indeed the grandfather of Noonien. So this means it was actualy about the greatgrandfather of Data. It all makes perfectly sense.
