Seeing as a few people have posted game stories I thought I would post this one that I’m playing at the moment.

I’m playing as the Klingons, Tech 1, Large, Many, Impossible with Random Events turn on. Wait, there was my first mistake! Normally I play without Random’s, especially when playing on Impossible, but hey I was feeling adventurous. It’s worth mentioning I’ve installed the Planet Population mod so I can have some decent fleet sizes.

I hit a couple of lucky breaks, meeting the Yridian’s and the Edo in quick succession; I quickly make both members and subjugate another 2 minors as well as colonizing a load of decent systems. I’m up to about 12 systems when I meet the Rom’s.

For reasons best known to the AI, the Rom’s had just 2 systems?? I’m the first Major they have encountered, so they haven’t been beaten up by anyone. I quickly popped back to the menu screen to make sure I’ve not click the wrong settings or something, but sure enough the AI is just being dumb for some unknown reason. Being the generous type that I am I immediately declare war on then and steal their first colony, this has the negative effect of sending the Antican’s and the Andorians straight into the Arm’s of the Praetor.

Then I meet the Fergs and the game is on, quickly followed by the Feds and the Cardassians. A brief pile on ensues and after bitch slapping the cardies about for a bit they sign a peace treaty followed by a friendship. Another couple of minors and I’m banging out ships and pouring them into Romulan space like ants at a picnic.

Then Cardassian systems started to disappear!!

In no time at all the Cardassian Union has been reduced to about 3 systems and I’ve got half a dozen Borg cubes on my border. They chew through my first few colonies in a couple of turns and I mass my fleet for a counter offensive. Unfortunately I’ve picked a lousy tech level to try and go whoop-ass on the Borg and my 40+ ships last two turns.

To cut a very long story short, the Borg then proceed to destroy every major system in the game in about 100 turns. I’m reduced to one system, Edo! Qo’nos was lost about a dozen turns ago. The Rom’s and Fergs each have one system and the feds three. The only reason they are still alive is due to the planet mod giving them a massive boost in population growth. All home systems have been lost.

So with a total population of 630 and the sole protection of the Edo Guardian and 9 Battle Cruisers I must somehow launch a counter offensive against 2 dozen Borg cubes and recover my lost Empire.

It’s going to be a very very long night!

This is without a doubt the worse beating i have ever taken on a BOTF game, which is why I am so determined to come back fighting and deal the Borg a death blow.

But TBF I am playing Vendetta, so maybe the Borg will destroy my enemies and I’ll win by default...

As soon as i can build heavy cruisers they're toast!!

Just build a big enough fleet of k'vorts and put them on cloak. Then when you have enough of them, you can destroy a borg cube in one turn (in the free uncloak turn  ), and you win the game. Romulans have ofcourse a bigger adventage, because they have more ships to cloak.

btw... Edo Guardian is stronger then a borgcube.

Yes i noticed, that’s why I decided to have my last stand there, but the cowardly Borg won't come to play  I've added 9 BC's to my defenses too.

As soon as my research is done I’ll be banging out cloaked ships like no ones business. In the meantime I’m building ships and scraping them so that I have plenty of credits to support my top heavy fleet.

i just took out a cube with 19 cruiser2`s thats all you need to take out a cube, same with feds, fergs or cards 18 type 2 light cruisers are more than enough, it also helps t ohave some cannon fodder in the mix, like destroyers and scouts.

Uh...huh...

That has to be one of the most complicated graphs i've seen in BOTF for a long time - the other races usually 'flatline' once i've had my way with the Galaxy...

Then you look for the picture you want to upload, then press accept and wait for it to load and then go down and you see three boxs.

Copy and paste the hole 1 first everything in the box and then come here and paste the words onto the commect and we will see the picture. It is easy as that!

I think you really need more cannon fodder when fighting the Borg. I tried it with a vast fleet of Sovereigns, and they just don't have the maneuverability to evade them.

My theory is twofold. First, the Borg target fast attack ships first for some odd reason. (my guess is so you will at least get a shot off)

Second, the accuracy of the Borg beam weapons is really good, but not perfect. Some faster ships might just be able to evade, while your Sovereigns just can't cut it. I think that the Borg ship actually has a fixed number of beams per turn, but the computer can pump enough power into those beams to destroy any ship in one turn.

So try again with an uber core fleet of Sovereigns (or better yet, Sovs. and Galaxys - after the fast attack ships are gone they go straight for the top), with a good couple dozen destroyers (Miranda II's - something you can afford to lose and better yet, build in one turn). Remember, the goal for these ships isn't to do damage or survive, just to draw the Cube's fire until your capital ships' quantum torpedoes do things the Borg won't entirely appreciate.

Defiants are also a good choice, since they might evade a little and pack a whallop. I personally wouldn't risk such an expensive ship when cannon fodder + brute force works fine, but if the Borg start by dispatching scouts and destroyers, the'll probably be fine.
