As im sure many of us have done before in the past, ive recently re-installed BOTF. However there are a number of mods and fixes etc out to make it better and enhance the gameplay! there are so many and combinations which you cant have etc (something to do with botf.res) that im confused to what is the best setup to have?

What is everyone else's experience of this? I of course i want the better graphics fix's and proper phasers and torpedos, new ships, better balance (starbases not getting destroyed by a ferengi transport etc lol) but its so confusing and i havent played the game for a while!

Wot do you all think? And just a thought... would it really be that hard to add for example the models from BC into BOTF? mad thought i know, its just the graphics in BOTF are so pathetic and the battles very "same old" the realism is just starting to lack in what once was a great game.

I was also wondering.. with our BOTF project being so far from completion, if maybe there is anything we could do to the current BOTF, a holy mod with updates and better graphics etc? a nice side project?

I know people always say that mods have incompatibilities blah blah blah, but to be honest, i've never encountered any problems. My games are a complete mash of files - I simply mix and match the files I like, rather than installing one mod and sticking with it.

Obviously it involved a lot of trial-and-error on my part to find out which files suited me best, but it's helped me a lot in the long run. I regularly use the editors that are available because I experimented with the files and know what changes I need to make.

The Aiminor, BOTF Building /Structures Editor, BOTF Descriptor, BOTF Ship Stats Editor, BoTFME, and the Ultimate editors are musts if you want to edit the game.

BotFED v1.4 is the BEST ship stats editor there is, but unfortunately, it is incompatible with my computer. (Or Windows XP, i'm not sure)

The main files that I AWAYS include in my game are the files from the Planets mod, Defiant textures mod, Deflector mod, and the Multipack 0.19.

I also have files from the Stiener and Modified race pics mods.

...

Whilst it would be cool to have a remake of BOTF to play with whilst we wait, if the devs were to do this, then it would extend the release date of BOTF2.

If this was to be done, it would HAVE to be done by other people, to ensure the release date of BOTF2 is unaffected.

It's recent news - as in it was announced YESTERDAY by Jig himself over on the main Armadafleetcommand.com forums.

So far, only the Connie refit, the Cardassian Hideki, NX-01, and Borg Renegade have had the working Phaser treatment. These ships are also gonna be implemented in the Colonies and Borg Incursion mods.

Obviously more ships will soon follow, though.

All credit goes to DCER, the guy that cracked the code.

Dafedz is now working on getting the new ships to have multiple Phaser Arrays, and these future ships will be implemented in the Ultimate mod 3.

The BIG Announcement - Plus Screenies
