The aim of this thread is to run through a few of the main things that make me excited about a new BoTF, discuss everyone else's personal favourite additions, and see if any of the Admirals can shed any light on whether they're still likely to happen!!!!
1/ Progression/ Evolution- One of my biggest annoyances in BoTF is no matter how good your shiplist is, you cannot remove or replace any classes of vessel. It's set up so that each new class adds to the existing list of available classes, they all have a purpose and fit around each other.
I'm looking forward to a time when we can have a plausable and realistic selection screen at all times, each ship you have the option of building is clearly related to the others technologically, and obsolete vessels will disappear.
2/ Purpose of ships- In BoTF there was nothing for ships to do aside from fighting other ships. I'm looking forward to a Scout ship having a completely different role to a Science ship. Is scanning of anomolies for research purposes still in??
3/ Diplomacy- Bribing of minors for their loyalty is retarded. Will other races still judge you based on your actions and reward your loyalty?
4/ Naming of ships- What's the decision on this now, can you name or rename any ship if desired?
5/ AI- Mainly to do with enemy ship building. If you mod BoTF the AI will often build the most illogical ship out of the available options. Their severe multiple personality disorder regarding signing and breaking treaties is so unrealistic also.
6/ Progression of minors- Will they rise to challenge the empires???
These are my personal points of excitement, how about everyone else?? I'm also looking forward to easier and more in depth modding!

I am just looking for a more "playable" game. Without going into all the details my biggest issue with the original game was sluggishness to the progression. That is not so much about the player that took too long to click Turn. Rather it had to do with tedious micromanagement. You can read through all the changes and post tomes about it. We will have to wait to seen if it will flow generating some sustainable level of interest. I trust it will.
