just a quick one: I'd need 3D renders and 2D pictures of the homeplanets of Ferenginar, Cardassia, Qo'nos and Romulus. The corresponding textures can be found here: http://celestiamotherlode.net/catalog/fic_startrek.php (the low-res version download will do!)

I'm lookin for a picture (250x250px) with shadow, atmosphere and a nice-lookin glow. Since the 3D renders will also be useful in 3D combat later on as background planets, there's not much effort wasted if it's done earlier.

That way we would have fixed homesystems for all major races except Dominion (for obvious reasons ;)) just like the sol system was in botf1.

So if someone wants to pick up this task (I suggest finding and reading a tutorial first on how to create good lookin planets, bumpmaps, normalmaps and specmaps), that'd be very appreciated.

I cannot make them good-lookin with gimp since the textures there have normal and specmaps included which aren't supported by gimp. So a 3D render program or Photoshop must do the job.

They'll also probably be used in the major race description database in-game with hi-res display.

I have been concentrated on filling up the ship list. There were previously requests that we do Federation ships so they can be loaded into what programming there is so far. It would take me some time just to figure out the planets, as I have not done this before. If someone else knows how to do this it would be better.

What is top priority for the different games?

of course the shiplists. these planets just make for a more realistic in-game look and priority-wise are rather low. Nevertheless a nice thing.

OK. I will work on ships until I am comfortable with that and or we have enough to work with. Then I will take on the planet challenge if no one else has done it.

The nice think about this project for me is all the new skills I have been learning. I just need the spare time to digest it all.
