Hello

Can anyone tell me of any new Star Trek game which is like Star Trek: Judgement Rites game

I don't just want to create ships etc. but I want to go on Away missions. I loved my old Judgement Rites game.

Is there any latest title which is similar to Judgement Rites, even if it includes Ship building, it should also include Away missions, solving puzzles etc.

Can anyone suggest any titles ?

I get the impression that Star Trek Online will do just that. In that game you will be a crew member on a ship. You will beam down.

In our game you run a major race. Our game will grow to have missions in that players will have to react to random events. These will be based on classic trek stories and will need your response. Set at a galactic map and then ship level you will not see ship interiors or control one crew member in our game.

I have looked at Star Trek Online, its MMORPG, and its online. I need a game which would run on my PC. Not much of an online gaming guy

Do you know of any titles be it star trek or any other game which gives us missions to complete rather than just building ships and shooting each other..

The only game I can think of along these lines is Star Trek: Away Team, and i've never even played that so i'm not entirely sure if that's a good suggestion. I only know of it thanks to Youtube lol.

If you're after any general Trek game recommendations though, a good one is Shattered Universe. It's a little on the old side, and was for the Xbox and Playstation 2 not PC (I only played it coz my friend lent me his Playstation, i'm still a Nintendophile lol), but instead of fighting with huge starships, you pilot fighters - and use them to take on the big starships lol. The game follows the crew of the USS Excelsior when it swaps places with the crew of the ISS Excelsior of the Mirror Universe, thanks to an accident involving a localised Ion Storm. Unfortunately, the ISS Excelsior was being hunted down by Captain Chekov of the ISS Enterprise, the Klingons, AND the Romulans before the switch takes places, so Sulu and his crew not only have to find a way back to their own Universe, they also have to fend off the mirror Starfleet, the mirror Klingons, and the mirror Romulans. The missions include fights against mirror Universe versions of the bad guys of several TOS episodes, including the M5 multitronic computer (The Ultimate Computer), Balok, (The Corbomite Maneuver) the giant space amoeba, (The Immunity Syndrome), and the Planet Killer (The Doomsday Machine). It's a great game, it really is, and is only made better by the fact it has Geoerge Takei doing the voice acting for Sulu.

Focussing on PC then, i'd definitely recommend the Starfleet Command series or Star Trek Legacy. And if you go for Legacy, then download yourself a copy of the Aftermath mod, which we have a for. We're expecting a big new release of the mod in the next few months so there are plenty of things to look forward to with that game. :)

It depends what sort of thing you like. I've never played either SFC1 or SFC3, but i've heard what they're like.

SFC1 was obviously the original so has the oldest graphics etc of the lot. A lot of people say the original is the best though. SFC1 occurs around TOS era.

SFC2 is SFC1 improved. The single player game is pointless though. It's got a decent storyline but the ingame map is pointless and you just end up muddling through the missions. There are tons more missions, ships, weapons, and races than in the original though, and the graohics are better, if a little on the low resolution side compared to modern games. The game comes with a really complicated interface that lets you control virtually everything about your ship, from which systems have power priority to which enemy systems should be targeted by hit-and-run missions by your marines, or the number of tractor beams that should be activated to defend against incoming drone weapons (Missiles). The interface could frighten some people off at first, but trust me, it's worth getting used to it. I absolutely adore the the SFC interfaces. Like SFC1, it also occurs around TOS era, although it is set after the events of SFC1.

SFC3 is different to the previous two games. It takes place around Nemesis time I believe, and has a dramatically simplified interface and better graphics. You can also choose precisely which systems you want to equip your ship with, such as weapons and shielding systems. Since SFC3 is a newer game, you *might* still be able to find multiplayer servers that still work as well.

...

Legacy has a low score because the game loses purpose after you've completed the storyline - it has very little replay value once you know what happens. The storyline is actually pretty good, but it's rather disjointed in places, and isn't realistic in how the storylines involve only the famous ships of Star Trek, ie the Enterprise. I would've preferred it if captains of other vessels played a role in the game too. It's great how the storyline ties in several loose threads from across the films and series though, and all of the big five captains get decent parts in the game, they don't just feel like a gimmick, except maybe Janeway as she only appears so close to the end of the game. The only patch that the game received actually ends up breaking another part of the game as well, so it wasn't the best supported of games. But worst of all, the game has terrible replay value, as though the developer thought people would buy Legacy only to be able to play their preset mission. That's where the Aftermath mod comes in though.

Aftermath adds in new game modes, such as one-on-one, skirmish, and survival. It also comes with overhaulled or brand-new models, reduced hardware demands but simultaneously improved graphics, new weapon types, many new maps, historical missions (Paradise Lost is my favourite, I love wiping out Starfleet with the Defiant...even if that's not what you're supposed to do hehe), and even ships from the Terran Empire.

Now obviously there are other mods out there for Legacy. But i've neve rplayed the, nd frankly don't want to. Legacy is all the mod I need. It really is that good.

That's it - the download is a link on the left-hand side of the page. Download the game, then download Aftermath 2.0, then download each of the addon packs in order from A-F.

Aftermath 3.0 is still a month or five away (I know coz i'm one of the playtesters hehe) so there's no point in waiting for it - try 2.0 for the time being. If you copy the entire contents of your unmodded Legacy folder into another folder as a backup before you mod it, you'll be able to perform a clean install of Aftermath 3.0 the moment it is released. I've actually got three copies of Legacy on my computer by doing it this way. Or alternatively you could create a separate folder so you can install one of the other Legacy mods that are out there.

Legacy doesn't have Away Missions either. The Aftermath team have released a video for Aftermath 3.0 if you haven't seen it yet though. The music for the video was by Sandman, who was originally making music for Supremacy until AndrewJT unfortunately caused us problems. Anyways, there are plenty of other video links for Aftermath videos on that page, so check them out if you want to see what the game is like before it finishes downloading.

Hello Matress

Just played the following games

1). Star Trek Bridge Commander
2). Star Trek Legacy
3). Freelancer

I really did not like Star Trek Legacy, especially the ship maneuverability was bad.

Star Trek Bridge Commander's, ship maneuverability was much better and the graphics are better than Legacy, even though its an old game. Legacy also lacked detail. I did install the
Aftermath mod.

Freelancers' was a good game, but a bit buggy.

I enjoyed STBC the most but i have uninstalled all of them. None of them were good enough.

I am installing FreeSpace 2 now, lets see how it comes out to be.

If you think ship maneouverability was bad, you probably won't like the Starfleet Command games as the ships are way slower at turning than in Legacy. I actually like SFC and Legacy because of the slow ship turning - it's much more realistic that the ships take a long time to turn. If you've downloaded Aftermath, try playing as the Defiant class - I actually find the turning is so fast on it that it is difficult to handle. :P

Mastress, i have just played Freespace 2 modded, man this game is VERY GOOD, an excellent game indeed. By far, the best space sim i have even played. I have yet to try out X3 Terrain conflict, but this one just blows me away :)

You must try it out.

I've got X2: Reunion, but i've not got X3. I've not played much of X2 really because I found it glitchy and the tutorial was non-existant. The game didn't even come with a manual so I had to press buttons randomly to figure out the controls. I've tried following the storyline but I keep getting stuck inside an asteroid with no obvious means of escape. I love the combat in the game though, especially with the smallest, fastest ships. Not that i've actually managed to get far enough into the game to actually be able to afford anything of decent size. :(
