Interesting comment on the Maya... What made that come to mind? I ask because for some reason it has crossed my mind a few times. CB

From early time people always had prophecy about the end of world. It will be in 1789, 1900, 1995, 2000 or 2006 ... I never payed attention, it was BS for me but 2012 often crosses my mind and I don't know why maybe because of all this panic and fact (it's obvious now) that USA and EU will fall in social and civil wars once this pseudo economy falls apart.

The Mayan calendar ends in the year 2012. Now, considering that they were alive in the ancient times, I always thought it made sense that they would stop after 2000+ years of planning. I doubt any of them expected to last that long anyhow. Maybe it was a giant celebration they were planning "yay we made it 2000+ years!" or something. I never thought about it in terms of "oh well, better stop planning, the world's gonna end in this year." Plus, the Great Pyramid in Egypt has already predicted the world's end in the late 30th century. It was right about other historical stuff, so why not this? And besides, there's nothing to indicate the world will end in the year 2012. Tectonic activity is what I would consider normal, Volcanic activity is nominal, and I don't see Ice Ages in the ever-so-near future. Sooooo, I think we have plenty of time to release Supremacy . Anyways, back to work .

@Zeleni: I don't think the governments of the world will simply let their countries fall into turmoil. There'll probably be a plan to appease the masses, as there always is, as there always will be. It's all political nonsense, really. All we have to worry about is the fact that the Earth will not try and obliterate us for a good many years yet (we think and we hope ).

I've always thought that people took "2012 end of the world too literally". The Mayans believed that everything we know will change, not necessarily meaning the end of humanity, just a big turning point in history like the world wars. Or perhaps a positive change, maybe something like the first contact in Star Trek, worldwide reform and complete change of our believes and the knowledge that we are not alone out there.

I'm hoping for that kind of change.

old? new? OLD? NEW? OLD??!? NEW??!? OMG the suspense is killing me too! I'm wagering new, just because Matress is so excited to get his new computer he probably won't even think about it after the computer arrives. It'll be all setup of the new computer, saying goodbye to the old computer, and getting programs such as Armada installed on the new computer, right Matress ? Oh well, I guess I can't let suspense kill me this close to bedtime. Its bad for the sleep cycle, and I wouldn't want to interrupt that .

EDIT: Also, this is my 200th post!! While it pales in comparison to 7000, I still consider it a milestone. WHOOPIE!

Old one actually lol. THE COMPUTER HAS ARRIVED but i'm still waiting for all my backups to copy to my hard drive before I pull the plug. It's "only" taken four hours so far. Another two hours and my backups should be complete.

Oh I see. I can assume that the backups were a success because you're still using your new computer, and as far as I know, it hasn't exploded. So congrats once more on your computer. And yay! My laptop may finally be free of the viruses that once plagued it. In fact, I got rid of them all. I managed to get AVG and Anti-Malware to clean up my computer, and now there is nothing left to kill my computer. So, therefore, I am celebrating my victory over the viruses . Back to work.

Glad you finaly cleared the viruses. To celebrate I will send you a great screen saver program I found from Moscow. Or was it Romania? I can not tell. My PC is running really slow and funky now.
