I was just wondering if there will be away misson features in Supremacy. It doesn't have to be too sophisticated. Have it as an option in the game menu of whether to have away missions on or off (similar to random events). Then when ships in an area of space come to a star system at random, they have the option of intiating an away mission by scanning an 'away mission planet'. A screen will inform you that an away team was transported to the surface and you're given a situation report and a list of options to choose from.
Depending on which option you select will determine the course of the mission and an outcome which will be reported as events.
Away missions can halp establish relations, gain new technology, unbalance galactic diplomacy, uncover secret technology and ruins of civilisations ( such as the Iconian Empire) etc or other features.

Hey CylonHybridThinkTank, welcome to the forums!

We do have some plans to have a system where certain events would require you to make decisions for "special projects". We haven't announced what the "special projects" are yet, but they could sort-of be seen as away missions. They will require you to make decisions, and your decisions will have consequences.

We'll announce more in the future, but it's only a planned feature at the moment and even i'm a little hazy on the specifics. But watch this space.

Theres a very addictive online game known as 'Nationstates' in which you are the leader of a country and are given a situation and a list of options which determines what kind of country you are. A similar idea could be applied to the star trek universe with an away team option.
The game has no graphics or anything but its still enjoyable and thousands of players are on it because the consequences of your decisions are unpredictable.

We don't plan to add a 3D combat system for a long while yet - which, I assume by "graphics", is what you mean?

The combat system - and an AI to play against - isn't planned for a long while yet simply because they will be the most complicated to program features of the game, and we need to get the groundwork on the game done before we can start implementing them. That said, we do have a large catalogue of 3D ship models that are ready for use in that future combat system. We also have a large number of new and updated images that will be included in the next update.

Kenneth_of_Borg also just released a mockup of the Klingon Intro Video for the game. He literally released it only a few hours ago. The voice acting was done by BlazeLeeDragon, the newest member of our team, and the Klingon ship models are our own. If you click on the poster's profile link under the video, you'll be able to see a mockup he did for a Supremacy intro video as well, although he released that video over a year ago.
