Why? Thinking of attacking me?

I currently ONLY have Light Laser Batteries. I know about the other stuff coz i've read the techs and coz i've experimented myself.

My main account (Matress_of_evil) has 10 Military points and 85 Light Laser Batteries, totalling 850 Attack points and 1.105 Defense. I have set it to build another 51 Batteries overnight. (It's gonna take about two days to build actually... )

My individual Batteries have 10 Attack and 13 Defense.

My secondary account (MOE) has 11 Military points and 99 Light Laser Batteries, totalling 990 Attack points and 1287 Defense. I have set it to build another 10 Batteries overnight. (They'll be complete by 9am tomorrow)

The individual Batteries have the same attack and defense values as my other account.

its a hunk of garbage, the cheapest, wimpiest thing I can build. Doesnt even have any weaponry!

Hey, General, we have the same defensive strategy. That and I try to keep my resources on hand at a bare minimum by investing heavily in demanding construction/research. If someone did raid me, they'd be lucky to get a couple hundred of absolutely anything. On the plus side, my iron mine has gone up about 5 levels over the last 36 hours, and the other mines have gone up at least two levels each as well.

By the way, has anyone found a particularly useful means of getting gold? Not a lot, just a small handful, say maybe up to 4-500? Can I sell some extra resources to a general server or something to make just a tiny profit?

What about ship factory upgrades/research? The defense station also takes a lot. Or you could go the route of developing trade infrastructure, which draines resources like mad both for construction and resources, although I think you're somewhat higher than where I am. I should have the bank built or building by end of the day tomorrow, which is why I'm hoping to get just a handful of gold while I don't need any and drop it in the bank. Though I'm loathe to consider the option, can you get a little gold by raiding a neighboring inactive player? I figure that's the only type of raiding I might be willing to do since it shouldn't cause any harm.

I happen to have a very focused strategy - its a strategy I created in Civ2, which is very... "Flexible" and i have 'ported' it to X-Wars.

If all goes well, in a week, I'll be able to take on Matress_of_Evil.

Right, to be honest, I haven't got a clue how you get gold. Because we're in Universe 2, you simply can't mine it anywhere in the Universe. There might be some way of getting into Universe 1 if you have the right technologies (And i'm talking Uber-Uber advanced here) but other than that there doesn't seem to be a way of getting it.

It might have something to do with Trade, but I haven't bothered building a Trading Center. Maybe it's something to do with that?

I've got a Bank and a Trading post, but it's nothing to do with those as far as I can see.

Oh, and guys just so you know, keeping resources in your bank isn't always such a good idea. There's a bug in the game where sometimes, if you deposit your resources, you'll never see them again. For some reason the game "holds" them for you but they don't get physically deposited - so there's no way to retrieve them.

It happened to me once, and I lost 136 Frurozin because of it. It's a random and rare bug though, and doesn't strike every time you deposit resources, so you guys might be lucky.

I have a mate who is in universe 1 and he cant even get gold! lol There's certain galaxys in universe 1 where you can only mine gold, and hes been sending loads of ships there, but they're completly full! he cant even get in! So he's a little stuck right now.
So im not even sure if we will ever need gold coz if its soo hard for the people in universe 1, how the hell will we stand a chance? (Oh and matress, dont kill me for joining universe 2 either, as Ive heard its almost impossible to join universe 1 as its soo full!)

My only defense right now is, using as many resources I can on construction and research! So if any one did attack they wouldnt get much. Am trrying to build up defenses, but there so much stuff i need in the meantime! grr!

Sounds like the safest route is to deposit in as small denominations as possible (or convient) to minimize your losses.

Basically, I lost - big time.

His ships had 2.4 times my attack power, and 1.3 times my defense power. He ended up taking out 117 of my Light Laser batteries and he took out the only Missile and Cargo ship I had.

However, even after the attack, I have 8 Batteries left with another 14 still waiting to be built. On top of that, his attack got him nothing - in the last minute before the attack, I put ALL my resources into the bank!

...The downside is that I won't be able to get them back from the bank until 1.29pm tomorrow. Oh well, at least i'll get 10% extra resources from it coz of the interest!

I checked out the guy who attacked me. His name is Terrab and he's ranked at number 77 - so I was attacked by someone in the top 100! So not fair...

*Edit - I don't believe this! The same guy has sent another attack fleet to my system! It's gonna get there in 55 minutes! (10.10am)

Both of my accounts are being attacked now. My defenses on my main account were able to defend me this time though.

I didn't lose any resources to the evil idiot. He shall rue the day he attacked me!

i have 3 battleships, with attack 56 and defense 18.

im planning an invasion against my nearest opponent - he has twice as many points as I do, but he has no defense.

ahem, ive created my own ship with 556 attk and 0 defense! lol Ive called it a suicide bomber, with one purpose. Mass destruction. Has no use when others attack my planet tho! I did try to ass some defense but the game wouldntlet me with this kind of ship!

I don't mean to sound like a dick or anything, but I don't think those three fighters will be any use against the attacker if it's the same top 100 guy. After looking at the battle report, I doubt anything less than an advanced medium ship would be useful. Some good news, though, I looked through the forum and it looks like conquering a planet is impossible, meaning that the only thing you have to worry about losing is resources which can be sent to the bank (even if you don't have enough room in the bank for them, you can prevent the opponent from getting anything, meaning that they still at least lose some resources from the fuel and any ships you manage to destroy). If you can successfully prevent the attacker from plundering anything, you might consider offering a diplomatic initiative, say something along the lines of, "You can keep sending your ships and wasting resources, but you won't get sh**. Or, since you clearly have an advanced military, I might be interested in 'purchasing' a defense/non-aggression pact with you. The alternative is for both of us to get nothing." Matress, I might also be willing to attempt to diplomatically intervene on your behalf with the attacker by offering some resources via you--I'm not going to give out my coordinates--once I build a trade center if you feel it necessary.

On a lighter note, I've had some diplomatic successes. I've sent peace envoys to each of my discovered neighbors, and the most powerful one (still only about a third of my power) has agreed to peace. As a little token of good will, I sent a ship with some extra resources to their planet. Granted some more powerful player may be eye-balling me waiting for my score to rise high enough to no longer be under attack protection, but at least for now diplomacy seems to be working out well.

Concentrate on building defenses before you do so, General. If he has twice as many points, he'll likely be able to establish a counter-offensive faster than you can build an effective defense.

Oh, and no offense intended here General, but your "Battleships" aren't gonna be able to help me much, i'm afraid. Your three Battleships mean your stats are 156 Attack, and 54 Defense - but the guy who is attacking my main account has 2051 Attack, and 1248 Defense for his light ships, supported by a medium fleet with 822 Attack, and 802 Defense. This gives a grand total of 2873 Attack, and 2050 Defense.

I'm still rebuilding my defenses, but I currently have 1040 Attack and 1560 Defense.

The guy who is attacking my secondary account has 3062 Attack, and 2144 Defense. I have 70 Attack, and 91 Defense. Well what did you expect? He's attacked me 7 times and has destroyed a total of 175 of my Light Laser Batteries so far!

In fact, he's attacking me AGAIN in 27 minutes' time...

Oh, forgot to say, me and Stumpy are now able to trade resources, so if anyone is in real need of anything (Eg. they need to build power plants coz they fogot to keep an eye on their usage) but can't afford to build it then let us know.

Trading ISN'T a one-way prcoess though - if we send you something, the game FORCES us to demand that you pay something in return. (It could just be a small amount though)

It also CHARGES the person (Ie. me or Stumpy) a 10% premium of that resource, so say you requested 10,000 Pig Iron, I would actually lose 11,000 Pig Iron, in exchange for eg. 100 Crystals.

If that isn't a fair trade I don't know what is...
