cloaks, funny buggers aint they .. everyone wants em untill eveyone has em thus maikin em pointless .. theres nothing more annoying than a cloaked ship that keeps popping into the same damn sector as your starbase then comences to run away, turn after turn, romulans are buggers for that, must be the romulan sense of humour .. anyhow back on track, just make em developable by any race, sure they prolly hafta sink a lotta time and resources into it, i mean the feds not got em because of the treaty with the roms, but in the game most of the time i dont even give em the time of day, so there would be no reason NOT to develope em. or if your just plain lazy you could just buy em direct off your opponent, or just buy ships off em for an inflated ammount, honest johns warbirds are us ... if i remember rightly the ferengi are buggers for nickin ships and sellin em on ... could redo ferengi sabotage to specificaly ship theft .. hmm i spose then you could just simply buy the things off the ferengi and HAVE your cloaked keldon's ... sorta smacks of trekiness to me

Quark : “Let me tell you something about Humans nephew. They're a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people, will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don’t believe me? Look at those faces, look at their eyes...you know I’m right don’t you? Well, aren’t you going to say something?

The concept itself sounds trek, as a one off.
I'm personally turned off by the concept of federation and cardassian fleets cloaking. Would look and feel wrong, that's the opinion of virtually everyone here. Of course this will be easy to mod.

Well I was going to say "we should agree the federation should not cloak" but then again...The federation came up with a cloaking device!"The Pegasus." Personally i'm not jumping up at the heals for a federation cloaking device a but if you could make treaty's in both2 like Treaty of Algeron, or not have the Treaty of Algeron, then theirs no reason the federation can't buy a cloaking device. BUT if they do, i'd like it to be later in time, certainly no at the beginning!

Ehm.. Federation ships will not be able to cloak only races like the Klingons/Romulans and others that we have seen to use cloak often, will have this option.

So the idea of buying tech on the free market (as in from other races not contingent on which race you are) to be adapted for who ever buys them is out?
