Well most scientists would agree that's true. Even so though some of the closest stars would be reachable at say 0.5 speed of light.
What's the fastest we can go at the moment in space and what is this in relation to the speed of light?

it doesnt matter what speed is max, the most important thing they need is inertial dampeners. the longest part of journey is the acceleration and deacceleration. the speeds required would take so long to get there at the number of Gs that a human could cope with that u would have arrived at our closest star and still be accelerating... well this is maybe an slight overexaggeration, but u get the pic

it would take nine years to get to alpha centauri at 0.5c - logistically that would make it an impossible trip.
hell, even at the speed of light a trip to AC is a logistical nightmare.

Well, well my friend. At least the amount of human arrogance is constant. And the speed of light in vacuum. Though I'm not sure we know wether the first one's supremum exists.

The reality is that any human endevour will, sooner or later, be expanded to the point were it becomes as complex can be grasped. If it becomes more complex than the subject splinters off into smaller, simpler chunks. That is the nature of human endevours.
