bote is very much like botf in this respect. so you would simply reduce speed by a certain number..

Have refire rates been implemented in BotE? I can't remember...
Just in case they're not, Supremacy is going to have refire rates for the ships - basically on the first turn ships will fire their weapons at full charge, but on the second turn their weapons will only do a % of their maximum total firepower to show the ships weapons are recharging. On the third turn the weapons will fire at full strength again. The recharge weakness may mean that ships have more time to recharge their shields as they won't be exposed to alpha strikes on every turn...
The refire rates are different for every ship in the game, and newer designs don't neccesarily have better refire rates than older designs. This should add an extra element of strategy to the game. All the refire rates are in Dafedz's database.

I often wondered about how things like weapons hard point placement on ships. So how will it be done exactly?

Maybe an editor tool would help speed things up, it could have a small 3D screen showing the ships and some input boxes for the coordinates of the hard points.

In other words the hardpoints for weapons and other elements would simply be placed on the surface of each model?

Looks likely, can't think of many other ways to go about it.

Doing it like that would definitely help in the long run as it would allow for the ability to target specific systems on enemy ships.

That's assuming we go down that route, Fox. I certainly wouldn't be against the addition of such complex tactics, but I'd be happier if we actually had a working combat system first. Complex tactics may also frighten off noobs. If we go for complexity, we still need to keep a simply point-and click BOTF-style system to make life easier for noobs and lazy people.

The systems wouldn't be that complex really. Are you familiar with the Star Trek Starfleet Command franchise? It has a very simple battle set up that still allows for very advanced tactics... Even the Piccard Maneuver.

Yeah, i've got SFC2: Empires at War, Fox. I've never seen the Picard Maneouver in the game though. ...Must be SFC3. Matress LOVES SFC2. Actually he's going to play it now.

Speaking of SFC3... I have been trying to find a place to buy it for... eh... Research purposes... Yeah, that's it... Research for the BOTE project but I have been unable to find it for under $60 US. Anyone happen to know of somewhere I could get it for less?

Seriously though... I am trying to find it to help me test ideas for BOTE. Would anyone happen to know where I could find a reasonably priced copy?

I have no idea. Maybe you try and join one the remaining (if there are some remaining) sfc3 gaming communities and ask on their boards if someone is willing to sell it to you. Although, I doubt that'd work..
