crippled by kirk who at least had the honor not to leave an atomic mine as a cheap shot.

heres a senario
1 scimitar
1 sovergn class battle ship
2 valdor "state of the art" romulan war birds

result a good 10 min battle with the soverign
1 destroyed war bird, 1 disabled all within in 1 minute.

Picard even had the courage to ram the enemy.

who’s on top in the intel game anyway, from what i remember section 31 was playing with the Romulan political structure during a war.

Intel?

As in who is better? Well since the shows ONLY show Federation with limited brief brief brief touching on Roms... Think about it..

However!!! In Botf for all 4 races.. Levels 1 -8 go to Cadri's after that
Roms take over. All in all Federation rates 3rd that I've seen in the game only. I've played both feds and roms against Cardi's, Ferengi, and Klingons, even against my favorite Roms.. (being feds that is)

Right now I'm playng a game with the Feds.. For 300 turns now, they have not even tried to use any intel on me.. klingons and ferengi are down to 3 planets each. I have them both surrounded.

Feds are just to NICE and POLITE. lol.... It would damage thier honor and other garbage.. lol

But thats what I've seen....

Good shot though!!! LOL

i was talking about the ds9 episode "inter arma enim silent leges"
(just watched it, very good)

botf had many flaws, the feds should have accpeted occupations but not bombings. The defiant was to fast and too strong and too expensive. The cards occupation strengh was riddiculus. And the romulan cloak was just stupid and boring (in terms of quality battles). The klingons also were too weak, the bop should ahve been their 'Best' ship, in terms of pound for pound warage.

who else remembers dozens of romulans being defeated by two, MEDICAL holograms, they did seem a tad, how to put it, pathetic.

At least the empire didnt lose any ships in a battle against those untrained hollograms

I've seen it, and if I remember correctly, at the end, its revealed that the head of the Tal Shiar is a puppet of the Federation.

Poor Tal Shiar, they're so bad at the whole intel game they managed to let a bunch of slaves assassinate their senate, and construct a ubership under their noses (either that or let the slaves steal the ubership). Either way, pretty pathetic.

And while it may be commendable that the Romulans acquired the Promethius, they did manage to subsequently lose it to two holograms.

Just to let it be known, I'm not really a Fed sympathizer, I just enjoy a good Romulan bashing.

I know the episode by heart. Just like a MasterCard commerical, priceless :D

Yes, a puppet. A rather crippled pupet. Did I mention we also made you think your most loyal Senator was a trator, and manipulated YOU into killing her?

Rigel, they weren't two holograms. They were two doctor holograms. Imagine if they actualy knew something about tactics. They could have taken over Romulus in a week

I recall a tiny bit of that show... very tiny. sorry. Didn't that have something to do with a virus? Planted by the Federation?

Since it's a corner stone of Federation supremacy over Romulus, a quick synopsis.

Sloan (Section 31) recruits dr. Bashir to go to a Federation-Romulans symosium on Dominion bio-weapons ect. Sisko and admiral Ross see it as a great way to learn more about section 31 and Bashir's on his way.

Sloans TELLS Bashir he wants him to see if a prominent senator has (with an upcomming promotion  ) an illness which can be indetectebly accelerated to kill him. Admiral Ross is taken by an illness and can't help Bashire so Bashir asks a Romulan Senator Cretak and liaeson to the Federation for help to stop the assasination.

Anyway, the smart Romulans discover the plot, and capture Sloan. (don't get too happy Matress and Winterhawk ) Bashir and Cretak are also captured. Bashir for interigation and Cretak for trying to help Bashir by tapping into confidential files.

Sloan is killed (as he was trying to kill the Bigshot Romulan), Cretak's career is ruined and Bashir is let go as they see he was just a clueless jackass. The Bigsthot is now on his way to becoming head Tal Shiar guy, and the story ends.

Except, Ross and Sloan engineered this whole thing with the help of the Bigshot who is actualy a Federation spy. and Cretak (a patriot Romulan) is removed from office. The future head of Tal'Shiar is now a Federation spy who has full confidence of the Senat (he was almost "assasinated", after all) and the one patriot that could stop him has been taken cared off. :D

The ep is elaborate with more twist and stuff but this is basicaly what happened, so the next time a Romulan thinks the Federation has crap intel officers, open this page, read this post!

im afraid i must correct u, he was already the head of the tal'shiar, but he wasnt yet part of the continuing comitie. So in effect the federation already control the tal'shiar. ;)

Thats right, I forgot about that. They already had the head of the Tal Shiar in their back pocket, but now they have the head of the Tal Shiar, who happens to be a part of the continuing comitee (however thats different from their Imperial Senate). A clasic episode if there was ever one.

Winterhawk, Spike just began their run of DS9 again (the final episodes were on Mon), so it will be a good little bit before that episode is up again.

Since our resident Romulans are unable to defend themselves, let me help them out.

Do we really know the Feds have the Tal Shiar head in their back pocket? Perhaps he's really playing the Feds for a game.

Anyway, just trying to help out the Rommies. They need all they can get.

I voted for the Federation... Especially if the morale calculations are better than they were in BOTF1... Your hands were tied so much that you couldn't even wage an effective war if it meant your empires own survival!!!!

If the problems aren't fixed, I kinda like the Romulans... They don't really complain that much and are good enough at diplomacy to persuade minors to join them without too much trouble. And of course, cloaking is a fun thing to have as well... Especially when it comes to toying with your enemy!!!

Even though I am fond of the idea of total war when survival is at stake... I just don't have the heart to play as the Klingons very much... Firt minor race I met as the Klingons were the Takarans... Diplomacy didn't work so I declared war and begun attacking their system... The mood of their "Please don't! What do you have to gain from our destruction?" Messages just got too me after a while...

There is one race that I can't really bring myself to attack and invade regardless of the Empire I am... The Sheliak... I just can't help but like a race whoose first response after meeting you is to declare war  I just can't help it!!!!!!!!!!!

Check back one page for this post to make sence to you...

On the same note... There is no better way to toy with an enemy than to have a fleet of 7 Defiants zipping through an enemies territory every now and then  That is one game of keep away that the enemy does not want to win   !!!!

Say there Gamers.. I got some news for ya's At turn 587 last night, after I had wiped out the Cardi's then cleaned up on the Ferengi. I was there in my own territory when out of the blue the Federation swooped in on me and attacked. I had left 3 battle crusers and 7 distroyers in that area, while the rest of my fleet was back doing some much needed R&R. Well I dont know what you call them but they were 14 heavy crusiers , 19 fast attack's and 5 strikes. I had forgotten to cloak my babies after the last system take over sothere they sat in full view.. (Either the Ai in the game is stupid or really messed up) but they came at me with 4 ships firing on mine. bad mistake. they missed (go figure) adn then I punched a hole through them like a hot knife through warm butter. I cut them in half. they took out 2 distroyers of mine. My battle crusers took out 4 heavys and my remaiing scouts nailed 6 distroyers. This was a intense battle segment for a while. It ended at turn 615. With a fight on every turn, When All was said and done.. I had 1 battle cruser left standing, shields down and badly in need of repair, but the Federation were no more. To my surpirse though they had two of my battle crusers with cloaks working!!

This was the first game I have played where the Feds actually stole a ship for me. Most interesting. After all that my ship reached Expert status from being a beginner! The feds were at expert levels. on thier ships.

So please Please tell me again how wonderful and awesome the Federation fleet is again? *Listens to the sound of slience* Yea! thought so...... lol

Warbird? too slow... I use power !! I'll take my newly built battle crusers against anything you wanna toss my way... Oh for a quick note. I pulled my remaining fleet from R&R, then proceded to to take SOL and the only other dilth planet the Feddies held. only took 19 turns. % wise they had me big time... 78% Feds to my 16% afterwords Fed are now down to 24% I'm up to 60%. I'll think I'll Clean them out today and then take on my final adversary.. the quiet ones... the REAL WARRIORS... Klingons..

So that should make your fedie boys  with anger.... lol

(*Note man what a hell of a game last night was*)

blah blah... I take out Romulan ships in ecounters with my Federation ships when I play as the Feds all the time. It all depends on how you command your ships. Besides, Federation ships are more manuverable than Romulan ships. You just got lucky with a stupid enemy AI commander.

Sorry I had to do that; but I couldn't let you go in living in a delusional state thinking that the Romulans were superior or anything like that.

, I had a funny situation once. A Federation taskforce of 2 Warbirds, 3 Cardie Cruisers, a K'Vort, a Romulan destroyer and two Ferengi raiders.
How the enemy knew the Federation was attacking them, I don't know

You know, I aslo played a game once... I destroyed the Romulans... Over and over again...

I did wage a nice intel war with the Federation once... It DESTROYED the Ferengi, also (not as much) the Klingons. But the Roms... Oh.... Knocked them down to Romulus and one other ****$$ colony... And with their ENTIRE fleet wating around Romulus. I didn't wait with the transports, I brought them along... 36 Defiants (which I imediatky scraped-I was loosing cash every turn ) and 11 transports...

The horizon blazing with blue rays of death and bolts of antimatter... Fireworks... great green fireworks... Of quantam singularities disappearing in beautiful green light... Fireworks....

Ah :)

Sounds beutiful!!!

Hey, on a side note... What mix of intel management will net you the most captured enemy ships? Even when my intel outdoes the enemies by over a thousand, I still can't seem to steal ships...

Well, military sabotage, obviously  Get the Ktarians, they are a $hitload of help and wait. I had a huge empire and every 15-25 turns I got a new ship :D
On even or slightly stronger intel points; it's just pure luck.

:...
A note, though, I kept these races alive myself. I sent them money so they could survive. And then I 'd attack them and destroy what that money bought. Then I sent some more. :D

I was like an evil Caritas  Giving and taking and sharing... and taking

when I tried the military sabatoge before... I simply discovered that at its hear my intel angents were little more than homocidal maniacs!!! Even though I was playing as the Federation I was recieving notices of succesfull operations that were happening at the very least every other turn (until my agents bacame more experienced that is) that were little more than a buch of mass mureders... That didn't boad well with the Klingons who were my allies at the time...

So I had to pull back my empires agents and almost go bankrupt getting back on the Klingons good side... Not fun...

Whew!! thanks guys.... I do enjoy a good hard laugh! Yall put a whoopin on me for sure... lmao! :D With the several thousands of games I have played this is the first I had seen of the Feds actually Stealing any ship! Quite amasing to me. The only diff I do is I start all races at level 1 with no minors... impossable lg gal, That makes the game a real challenge for me. Romulans get s quick start in levels 1 - 3 then it dies down while the rest zip pass me by leaps and bounds. while I'm stuck having my baddest ship being a simple crusier, everyone else has haevy crusiers, maurders ect. I've done the Tech settings here and there to get things going, but it dont help until I reach levels 5 or 6. So since my game is just about done. I'll do my next as a fed. Just to get a feel for them again. Worse comes to worse I'll only gain more knowledge of them for future games..

thanks though.. lol Great laughs... Love to see you all with your feathers all ruffled up.. lol
