We wait for the next episode with great anticipation Zach. Don't tell Chess but i think you're the better ot the two - though Chess is still very good

Someone may be able to make a CD of the game for you.
Alternatively, you could get a download manager, that might speed things up for you...slightly...
...
I was wondering why your name sounded familar, zach21uk..

Same here, my 56x Burner should rip through it in seconds. Make sure your CD Rom drive can support CD-R discs though as some pre 1995 ones can't

Good things come to those who wait
That's what I've been doing, waiting, was planning on playing BOFT, went got the CD case off the shelve, got all excited, plans of galactic domination racing through my mind, opened up the case, EMPTY!!!!!
On the bright side now have got the great BOTF hunt to keep myself occupied now

Exactly the same thing happened to me!!!
Apart from at that time I did it because I was waiting for Civ4, I knew nothing of BOTF2, and was going to try out some of the mods for it. Opened up the case and there is ST:TNG A Final Unity. I had chucked out some old games I didnt like anymore. Kept BOTF but forgot to check if the CD was in and it got chucked out with the Final Unity case! NO!
Then I found BOTF2 and I was happy again

Unity's a good game, just load up with photons and head into romulan space phasers blazing
Downloaded BOTF so happily conquering the galaxy now, there's a Civ Anonymous page at http://www.civanon.com, maybe we should make one for BOTF?

when it's released, will we need to copy it to a cd, or will it run from the hard drive?

no you shouldnt need to copy it to a cd as it will have no copy protection, therefore no need to have it on a cd

Though for people who can't download the game at a good rate - ie 2kbs a second, i can offer to burn a copy for anyone who would like one when the game's released?

I think the best way to get the download is to get a download manager like FlashGet, the one I use.
It organises the download in a way where it can do it a little quicker than through Internet Explorer, or Firefox.
And any download can be stopped, say in a crash and restarted. So modem users can download it over a long time, instead of hogging internet connection when you want to browse for days on end

But if you're on a 28.8kbs connection then it seems a bit pointless
